Wharfedale Elysian 1R Speaker Stands

The Wharfedale Elysian 1R Speaker Stands are specifically designed to perfectly match the Wharfedale Elysian 1R stand mount speakers. They are a superb visual and sonic match and will elevate these great speakers to the next level.

Standing at 476mm, each stand places the Elysian 1R at the correct listening position while giving the loudspeaker a secure and mechanically stable platform. Its precision-engineered structure helps reduce unwanted vibration and resonance, allowing the speaker cabinet and drive units to perform with greater clarity, focus and control.

Constructed from high-carbon steel tube with a high-carbon steel top plate and hardened high-carbon steel base spikes, the Elysian 1R Stand is designed to complement the natural, wide-bandwidth performance of the loudspeaker. By effectively coupling the stand to the floor and supporting the cabinet with confidence, it helps preserve the openness, imaging and refinement that define Elysian R.

The Wharfedale Elysian 1R stand-mount speaker is too large to fit on most bookshelves, so we recommend the purpose designed matching Elysian 1R speaker stands. For this new generation, the finish has been simplified to a luxurious Matte Black, matching the contemporary trim, metalwork and understated visual language of the Elysian R Series. Elegant, solid and acoustically purposeful, the Elysian 1R Stands complete the system both visually and sonically.

Floor Protectors

Note: The spike feet will scratch floors. Be careful positioning the stands on floorboards, tile or vinyl flooring. No rubber feet or pads are included to protect floors. We recommend using Quadraspire Floor Protectors or Atacama Spike Shoes to protect your floors.

A well designed and constructed speaker stand is required to raise the high frequency drivers of bookshelf speakers to ear level for ideal vertical dispersion, couple the speaker to the floor to drain away vibrations of any kind and decouple the speaker from the floor to prevent any vibration feedback from contaminating the audio chain. The Elysian 1R speaker stand serves all these purposes superbly thereby resulting in an almost holographic soundstage and exceptionally wide dynamic range.

Why Do You Need Speaker Stands?

That question is often quickly followed up with another: "Can't they just sit on the floor?" The truth is you can put the speakers wherever you like but the location and positioning absolutely and significantly affect performance. When bookshelf sized speakers are placed on the floor or against a wall their sonic output becomes 'connected' to the floor or walls. This results in sound that is muddy, distorted and lacking in clarity. Speaker stands elevate and isolate speakers from floors and walls. Sound is clearer and cleaner with much better imaging and a greater sense of realism.

This sleepy little market town was located in the valley of the river “Wharfe” – an area known to this day as ‘Wharfedale’. This unlikely location would ...
