Anyone familiar with the original Tivoli Audio SongBook may see the family resemblance from a distance but when you get in for a closer look you see that almost everything has changed, as befits a product of the mid 2020's.
The SongBook mixes timeless design with modern functionality to give a listening experience like no other. It exudes a retro charm with its analogue user experience complete with its toggle switches and EQ sliders. The carry handle and durable frame make it a perfectly portable device whilst the high-gloss finish brings a refinement that make it perfect for any space, any situation, and any style.
Quality Sound: The powerful amp design and multi-driver configuration deliver an exceptional, immersive sound experience that fills any space. Entertaining at home or hosting outdoors, it is designed to deliver impressive sound quality. With analogue EQ, you have control over the audio output, allowing you to customize the sound to your preferences. While only being as big as a medium size handbag or a hardcover book, the SongBook punches well above its weight with two 3.5" drivers, one specifically for bass and the other covering the full frequency range. A 20 Watt amplifier powers each driver and lets this medium sized Bluetooth speaker sound way bigger than it has any right to.
A Modern Design with Heritage Elements: The SongBook has a happy look, like a face smiling at you which is very appealing. But it also has a mid century aesthetic which makes you think it could be from the film American Graffiti, you know, apart from the whole Bluetooth thing which had to wait a few decades to be invented. The retro looking EQ sliders look exceptionally cool as do the toggle switches which are definitely a throwback to "Where Were You In 62?"
Bluetooth Connectivity: Tivoli Audio have kept it simple with just one type of wireless connectivity, the most popular in the world, Bluetooth (5.3). Pairing your smartphone, tablet, or computer is a doodle and, once connected, you can easily stream your music, podcasts, or audiobooks directly to the SongBook either at home or on the go.
Amp It Up: And remember, the SongBook has the added versatility of an auxiliary input with a built-in preamp which can be used with your turntable, guitar, keyboard, or anything that requires that extra boost of sound. So, stream to your heart's content or go all analogue and anachronistic, the choice is yours.
Our Take
This modern interpretation of the SongBook has never sounded so good and Tivoli Audio have, to their credit, kept things refreshingly simple. Quite a contrast to some of their other recent releases.
With the latest Bluetooth 5.3 you'll be securely streaming all your favourites whether inside with friends at your Saturday night soiree or out and about in the great outdoors listening to gentle acoustic sounds at a picnic or dancing to the beat around a bonfire on the beach. And, with up to 10 hours of battery life, the SongBook will last at least as long as you will. The analogue EQ is a great touch that lets you tailor your tunes to suit while the auxiliary input lets you plug in a turntable, guitar or keyboard to give you even more music making options. The built in carry handle is a nice detail and the cream/brown and green colour options lend a pleasing touch of vibrancy to proceedings.
And last but certainly not least, this thing sounds much bigger than it has any right to. The first time we heard the Tivoli SongBook was in our rather spacious main showroom here at Audio Trends and we could not believe how well it filled the space with engaging sound.
