Theory is genuinely unique - their products have completely changed the level of performance attainable from small to medium size installed sound systems. Part of the way they attain this level of performance is by employing proprietary DSP techniques to process the signal for their loudspeakers and subwoof­ers with a very high degree of precision.

As such, the Theory ecosystem of products is a little different than what you're used to as all Theory loudspeaker models require the application of Theory High Resolution Digital Loudspeaker Processing. For this reason, it is best to think of Theory loudspeakers as "active" or "powered" speakers - Theory have just elected to place the electronics, normally installed inside the loudspeaker itself, in rack-mountable chasses, outside the harsh environment of the loudspeaker, and where wiring and service of the electronics can be accomplished painlessly.

At Audio Trends we have installed a full Theory Audio Design system in Cinema 4

For our installation we have specified a 5.2.2 system with three in-wall speakers for the front left, centre, right channels and two on-wall models for the surrounds. We then have two in-ceiling Dolby Atmos speakers and two in-wall 12” subwoofers. Powering all this is a pair of 8 Channel amplifiers which have specialised DSP technology onboard to make sure all the Theory speakers sound perfect.

This has brought a level of performance never before imagined to this medium sized cinema room and nearly all of it is invisible. The AV preamp/processor of choice is the acclaimed Anthem AVM-70.

While this system sounds quite amazing as it is, if you are after an even more enveloping sound then we recommend you get a second pair of in-ceiling Dolby Atmos speakers for that full “you are right there in the middle of everything’ experience.
