Sony MDR-MV1 Headphones

The Sony MDR-MV1 Studio Monitor over-ear headphones feature an open-back design that gives you a spacious sound with a wide soundstage. They are lightweight and comfortable for those long mixing and stereo mastering sessions or when you want to enjoy music in the comfort of your own home. The headphones come with a long 2.5 m detachable cable.

40mm Drivers: The MDR-MV1 is equipped with 40mm dynamic drivers with strong neodymium magnets that deliver powerful high-res audio that is accurate and uncoloured so you can hear the music as the artist intended. The carefully tuned open-back ear cups reduce reflected sound inside the headphone to produce a better 360° spatial sound experience, much like listening to a pair of speakers in a room.

Cable: The headphones come with a tangle resistant 2.5 m cable with a straight ¼" (6.35 mm) plug that is common on professional mixing equipment. The detachable cable has a threaded connector where it attaches to the left ear cup to give you a secure connection. Bundled with the headphones is a 6.35 mm to 3.5 mm adapter cable that allows you to listen to your portable devices as well.

Our Take On The Sony MDR-MV1 Headphones

Sony's line of professional headphones have been a studio staple for decades. These are a little different however, because keeping with the latest musical trends, the MDR-MV1 open-back headphones are specifically designed for mixing, mastering, and monitoring binaural mixes for spatial audio. Sony combines their high-performance dynamic drivers, signal processing, and fine-tuning to deliver a spacious three-dimensional sound field with a strong sense of distance and place.

And since the sound is so linear and accurate, these headphones work well for creating or listening to stereo tracks too. They have a lightweight, well-padded design for those long sessions when you're trying to get the mix just right or when you just want to bliss out to the music while relaxing at home.
