The Harlequin Series 6 Plus Floorstanding Speakers have been re-defined to deliver an even better entertainment experience. Continuing on from the Award-winning Harlequin Series 6, (2021 Loudspeaker of the Year Award $1000 – $2000) the Harlequin S6 Plus speakers have borrowed tech from Richter's Premium Special Edition Range and now uses the same premium soft dome tweeter partnered with the improved 6½ inch mid/bass driver. The improvement these new drivers brings allows Richter to retain the same crossover design approach using high quality acoustic polypropylene caps and air cored and ferrite core inductors. The result is an even more exciting engaging entertainment experience to keep you digging through your record and CD collection or swiping through your favourite streaming service.

The Harlequin S6 Plus Floor Standing Speaker is part of the sixth generation (Series 6) of the legendary Richter speakers and in this S6 Plus series Richter has focused on refining the award-winning Series 6 range of Loudspeakers with improvements where it matters. This meant raising the bar from a visual and performance perspective. New aesthetically pleasing cabinet designs including magnetic mounting grills were drafted as well as the development of all new propriety drivers. Staying true to the comment of the brands founder 'I'm not in the audiophile industry, I'm in the entertainment industry,' the Series 6 Plus range has been refined to deliver an even better listening experience.

Premium Tweeter

The new tweeter, borrowed from the Premium Special Edition range, deliveries considerably better sensitivity with a lower resonance frequency and double the power handling resulting in a new level of clarity and engagement - like lifting a veil on the music.

Improved Drivers

The 6½" (165 mm) lightweight midrange/bass driver has been improved for the Harlequin S6 Plus. It exhibits notable advancements, particularly around the 1kHz range. There's also a commendable reduction of approximately 10% in nonlinear distortion compared to its predecessor. This all helps the Plus sound audibly smoother and more open sounding.

Improved Bass Control

The Harlequin now also come with an additional bass port foam puck which provides an ideal middle ground bass response catering for different room sizes and conditions as well as users preferred taste. Richter call it the Goldilocks affect – if the Bass Plugs Inserted reduces the bass response too much and the Bass Plugs Removed energises the bass response too much, then using the additional Bass Port Puck, which only partly closes the port, should provide the perfect middle ground.

Our Review

The Richter design team is headed up by Dr. Martin Gosnell BE (Hons) PhD who has worked with Richter since approx. 2000 and is supported by the very experienced and highly respected Audio Engineer Brad Serhan. Together with the experience of audiophile owner Brian Rodgers they have really set a new benchmark in Australian speaker design.

You could pay a whole lot more for an international brand name and get not only an inferior product, but one that doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the Harlequin S6 Plus. The Harlequin S6 Plus has improved tweeters and mid/bass drivers over the standard Harlequin Series 6's. The Harlequins will also please your eyes with their classic yet contemporary looks – perfect for your hi-fi stereo or home cinema requirements, without breaking the bank. Please do not underestimate Richter speakers! They are world-class or better. But, do yourself a favour - compare and listen!
