About The Project Xtension 9 Evolution Turntable
The Xtension 9 Evolution is considered quite an achievement. Pro-Ject's engineers have managed to incorporate all their turntable design experience from more than 20 years into a high end, slim-line size to fit standard audio racks. The Xtension 9 chassis is made from MDF filled with metal granulate for high mass that virtually nulls resonance. Magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 16 kg total turntable mass. The result is a unique combination of 'mass loaded' and 'floating turntable' design principles.
Instead of pure metal for the main platter, Pro-Ject have found a perfect alloy which they've damped with thermo plastic elastomers (TPE). Additionally, they've glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and baked this 'sandwich' before precision balancing it. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension. The Xtension 9 Evolution includes a top-class 9cc Evolution tonearm and comes complete with a dustcover.
Magnetic Main Bearing: To ensure stable speeds a proper platter bearing is needed. The Xtension 9 Evolution uses a special technology. The heavyweight platter spins on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with a magnetic support to reduce bearing noise and resonance to an absolute minimum. This solution relieves the main bearing and ensures that the platter runs ultra-silently.
High End Magnetic Suspension Feet: Many turntable manufacturers forget that the feet are one of the most important parts of a turntable. Therefore, Pro-Ject wanted the best possible solution for the premium Xtension 9 Evolution. With its superlative magnetic feet, this heavy turntable literally floats over the surface. These powerful magnets effectively decouple the turntable from the base it's sitting on.
Precision Motor Control: The precision DC-driven AC generator powers the motor for enhanced speed stability. Easily change 33⅓/45 RPM speeds with the push of a button.
High Precision Tonearm: The EVO 9" CC Black High precision tonearm with carbon fibre arm tube incorporates a cardanic bearing, high-purity copper wiring and a TPE damped counterweight.
Record Puck: The included heavy 800 g brass record puck helps reduce unwanted vibrations.
