The Xtension 10 Evolution is an ideal turntable for those searching for excellent sound quality. It incorporates all the engineering know how and production quality expertise gained from Pro-Ject's 20 years' experience in turntable design.

The Xtension 10 chassis is made from MDF filled with metal sand, that gives high mass and is non-resonant. Magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 22 kg total turntable mass. The result is a unique combination of 'mass loaded' and 'floating' turntable design principles.

Instead of the standard adoption of pure metal used for the main platter, the Pro-Ject engineers have found a perfect alloy which is then damped on the inner side with Sorbothane®. Additionally, they have glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and bake this 'sandwich' before precision balancing it. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension.

Magnetic Main Bearing

To ensure stable speeds a proper platter bearing is needed. The Xtension 10 Evolution uses a special technology. The heavyweight platter spins on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with a magnetic support to reduce bearing noise and resonance to an absolute minimum. This solution relieves the main bearing and ensures that the platter runs ultra-silently.

High End Magnetic Suspension Feet

Many turntable manufacturers forget that the feet are one of the most important parts of a turntable. Therefore, Pro-Ject wanted the best possible solution for the premium Xtension 10 Evolution. With its superlative magnetic feet, this heavy turntable literally floats over the surface. These powerful magnets effectively decouple the turntable from the surface it's sitting on.

The Pro-Ject 10cc Evolution tonearm also benefits from 'high-mass' technologies, and is isolated from the main board by a sheet of Sorbothane®. To use this tonearm with a wide range of top quality phono cartridges, from 4 to 14 g, it comes with a set of 4 different Sorbothane® damped counterweights.
