About The Pro-ject 6PerspeX Balanced Turntable

The 6PerspeX Balanced turntable uses a transparent acrylic plinth that stands on three height-adjustable TPE-damped aluminium cones. The plinth carries the outboard motor and sub-chassis. The sub-chassis (made of Corian) rests on opposing magnets forming a floating suspension for the record platter and tonearm. This sub-chassis suspension system staves off parasitic noise that sometimes accompanies conventional spring suspensions. A supplied spirit level allows for easy levelling of sub-chassis and record platter. The quiet-running AC motor unit drives the platter via the belt installed around the platter's circumference. The motor incorporates an advanced DC-driven motor control that ensures rock-steady speed stability and offers electronic toggling between 33 & 45rpm.

The resonance-optimized platter is a sandwich construction utilizing a precision-machined MDF plate coated 4mm thick in flat-ground recycled vinyl. A screw-down clamp and threaded spindle take the notion of 'record coupling' to the next level. The platter bearing is Pro-Ject's best design utilizing a stainless steel spindle topped with a ceramic ball. An inverted bronze bushing embedded in the underside of the platter rotates silently and smoothly.

The 6PerspeX Balanced turntable features Pro-Ject's high end EVO 9 CC carbon tonearm with a massive bearing construction. It uses an inverted cardanic ABEC 7 quality bearing with 4 stainless steel tips. This bearing type is very stable and low friction, which guarantees stable tracking. The full aluminium tonearm base offers you the option to adjust both the azimuth and the vertical tracking angle (VTA). Setting and experimenting with the VTA & Azimuth is crucial in extracting every last bit of performance from your cartridge.

Correct Adaptive Anti-Skating Mechanism: As the skating force varies between the inner and outer grooves of the vinyl record, our anti-skating mechanism adjusts accordingly.

Cardan Ultra-Low Friction 4 Pin Point Bearing: The TPE insert decouples the counterweight from the tonearm and reduces resonances.

TPE Damped Counterweight: The precise cardanic bearing with 4 stainless steel tips offers very low friction and best stability.

Mini XLR & RCA Outputs: The 6PerspeX Balanced comes with Pro-Ject's high-quality Connect It E RCA to RCA cable. It is a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable, with superior shielding.

In order to be able to use the advantages of the balanced signal transmission, you need a balanced phono cable such as the Pro-Ject Connect It Phono S Mini XLR to Mini XLR which can then connect the 6PerspeX Balanced turntable to a true balanced phono preamp like the Pro-Ject Phono Box S3 B.

Why True Balanced? Balanced audio connections are usually known from the professional sector like recording studios or live concerts. It is very important to have a stable & interference free connection, as these signals, especially microphone signals, will be highly amplified.

The same applies to the connection from your turntable to the phono preamplifier. The big advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to remove picked up noise and interferences.

Balanced connections use three wires for one channel: ground, a hot and a cold wire. The cold wire carries the inverted (reversed in polarity) hot signal. At the receiving end, the cold signal is flipped and added together. The trick happens here: If the cable picks up any noise, the noise is added to both signals. So, a positive interference is a positive tick on the hot and on the cold signal. If you now flip one of them, the interference is also inverted, so you get the same interference once in a positive and once in a negative direction. If you now add these two signals, the noise will cancel out.

The 6PerspeX Balanced has the normal Stereo RCA outputs but, crucially, it also has a fully balanced mini XLR output, which offers you a symmetrical connection to the Phono Box S3 B, Phono Box DS3 B or Tube Box DS3 B phono preamplifiers. To use the True balanced connection your turntable needs to be equipped with a moving coil cartridge pre-installed. We recommend the Ortofon Quintet Blue, Quintet Bronze and Quintet Black S as well as the Cadenza Red. We can supply the 6PerspeX Balanced turntable with any of these Ortofon cartridges preinstalled at a special bundle discount price. Please enquire.

Out Take

The Pro-Ject 6PerspeX Balanced turntable is a high-end audiophile turntable that combines innovative engineering with premium materials for exceptional sound reproduction. Its transparent acrylic plinth, supported by three height-adjustable TPE-damped aluminium cones, houses an advanced sub-chassis made of Corian, which floats on opposing magnets to minimise resonance and isolate the platter and tonearm from vibrations. The belt-driven platter features a resonance-optimised MDF and vinyl construction, rotating silently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing for ultra-smooth performance. The pre-mounted EVO 9 CC carbon tonearm utilises an ABEC 7 ultra-low friction bearing, offering precise tracking and adjustability for both VTA and azimuth. A key feature is its True Balanced Connection, providing a fully balanced mini XLR output alongside standard RCA, ensuring interference-free signal transmission when paired with compatible Pro-Ject phono preamplifiers. Designed for audiophiles seeking uncompromised analogue playback, the 6PerspeX Balanced delivers refined sonic precision with the option of pre-installed Ortofon moving coil cartridges for optimal synergy.
