PlenQ Bamboo 4 Hi-Fi Rack with Carbon Reinforced Glass Fibre Columns
When we first saw the PlenQ hi-fi racks, we were genuinely impressed. They struck a really nice balance between clean design and solid build quality, without feeling over the top. What stood out just as much was the fact that they’re sensibly priced, making that level of quality accessible rather than exclusive. Once in use, the system sounded more open and even-handed, with a natural sense of space that was easy to appreciate.
PlenQ is built on decades of hands-on experience in designing and making quality audio products, and it shows in the attention to detail. The racks were conceived and developed in the Netherlands, with a clear focus on smart design and well-chosen materials rather than gimmicks. By using custom-made components and high-grade materials throughout, PlenQ has created a well-considered reference that feels purposeful, practical and made to last. The PlenQ Bamboo 4 Hi-Fi Rack comes with 4 shelves supported by 60, 240, 190 and 130 mm columns and gently tapered spike feet.
Solid Bamboo Plywood Shelves
PlenQ’s hi-fi furniture is based around 25 millimetre thick, solid bamboo plywood. Bamboo ply is made out of solid bamboo strips. These solid strips are first cooked to stabilize the natural colour. Next step is gluing the strips to generate sheet material which is exposed to high pressure. Out of this sheet material, shelves are cut to size using a high precision CNC machine. The shelves are then finished with a scratch-resistant polyurethane coating. This coating makes the shelves water-tight, seamless, wear-resistant and dirt-repellent. The shelves measure 600 x 450 x 25 mm.
Carbon Reinforced Glass Fibre Columns
PlenQ only uses carbon (3K cloth) reinforced glass fibre columns. The columns are interconnected with a threaded rod in a custom-made, anchored aluminium part inside the column. There are no visible screws, bolts, springs, washers, or nuts anywhere on PlenQ’s hi-fi furniture. The columns have a diameter of 25 mm and are available in 4 heights, 60, 130, 180 and 240 mm. The 60 mm high column is placed under the bottom platform and fitted with a spike and lock nut.
Easy Assembly
PlenQ uses black anodized aluminium (6061) for all visible metal parts. Tailor-made end caps are recessed into the top shelf. The columns then screw into the end caps and the shelves are added. At the bottom of the rack gently tapered spikes fit perfectly with the included locknuts and if you have delicate floors, spike shoes are also included.
Cable Management
All shelves are provided with two unique recesses. This allows the cables to be neatly organized, so power and signal cables can be separated. The recesses are well thought-out and allow the passage of the largest connectors and thick cables.
PlenQ Isolates
In addition to the durability of the components, the use of sandwich construction shelves, which are then put under mutual tension, has a unique property in terms of the degree of dissipation of resonances. Furthermore, the combination of bamboo, carbon with fiberglass core, aluminium and polyurethane lacquer forms the perfect basis for all your hi-fi equipment. Placed on a PlenQ each component will be able to do its job optimally.
Why Choose The PlenQ Bamboo 4
The PlenQ Bamboo 4 Hi-Fi Rack is one of those pieces that quietly earns your respect the longer you live with it. From the first look it feels well judged - clean, modern lines, beautifully finished bamboo shelves, and nothing flashy for the sake of it. Once your gear is in place, there’s a subtle but worthwhile lift in presentation, with the system sounding more open and evenly balanced, as if everything has room to breathe. A lot of that comes down to the clever engineering: thick solid bamboo shelves, carbon-reinforced glass fibre columns, and a tensioned structure that keeps resonances firmly in check. Assembly is refreshingly straightforward, cable management is genuinely useful, and the whole thing feels solid, stable and built to last. It’s a thoughtfully designed rack that blends sustainability, performance and everyday practicality without trying too hard.
