Designed And Made In The USA Using Domestic And Imported Components: The Klipsch RC-64 III speaker is a testament to the quality that Klipsch demands from each and every one of its audio products. Remember great sound? We do, too. The RC-64 III enclosure is made in the USA, by proud craftsmen in Hope, Arkansas. Just like Paul W. Klipsch (PWK) intended.
New 1¾" Titanium Diaphragm Compression Driver: The compression driver features a new phase plug design to improve phase coherency at the throat of the horn, resulting in improved sound pressure linearity at high frequencies.
90° x 90° Tractrix® Horn: The redesigned Tractrix horn utilizes a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The compressed moulded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to reduce harshness and improve detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible.
Spun Copper Cerametallic Woofers™: Cerametallic woofers represent the pinnacle of Klipsch driver design, maintaining exceptional rigidity, and lightweight construction, for minimal cone breakup and distortion. When paired with the Tractrix horn-loaded compression driver, it provides speaker efficiency highest in its class.
Cast Frame Woofer Design: Each 6.5" woofer feature a heavy-duty cast aluminium frame for resonant-free operation.
2½ Way Network Crossover Design: The sophisticated design of the RC-64 III network attenuates the outer woofers output at higher frequencies to minimise horizontal interference off-axis to the loudspeaker. This maintains a wide and even sound distribution — ensuring each listener hears the centre channel information exactly as intended.
Furniture Grade Wood Veneers: RC-64 III enclosures all utilize furniture grade wood veneers, and are available in Black Ash & Cherry.
Our Take
Klipsch speakers deliver a dynamic and fast sound which is nothing less than impressive on movies. But there is another big story to tell and that is the subject of sensitivity or speaker efficiency. Most speakers are about 90dB efficiency and in stereo mode and with a modest approach to the volume control does not present any problem for any good amplifier or home theatre receiver. However as surround sound has increased from 5 speakers up to 9 or even 11, so has the demand on the amplifier or home theatre receiver. Combine more speakers with more volume and average efficiency speakers (say 90dB) and your amplifier will run quite hot and go into clipping - a type of distortion.
One solution is to add an extra power amplifier to hook up the front two or three speakers and leave the receiver to run the centre and rear effects speakers. Another solution is to invest in speakers like the Klipsch RC-64 III. This speaker is a very efficient 99 dB which means you can easily run it with half the power of most other speakers and ideally it should be matched with other Klipsch speakers from the Reference III range such as the magnificent RF-7 III. One of the better spec receivers will usually do the job beautifully and run nice and 'cool' even at high output levels. Speak with us to get more details or phone in and arrange a demo.
