About The KEF R2 Meta Centre Speaker

Designed to match any R Series speakers, the R2 Meta boasts the 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with MAT™ and two 5.25" hybrid aluminium bass drivers. It is compact enough to use in smaller rooms while being capable of high-quality sound with even the most dynamic music and movies. This design is highly versatile and can be used in an LCR (Left-Centre-Right) configuration.

Born From The Reference - KEF R Series Heritage

Since 1961, KEF’s pursuit of immaculate sound has led to countless acoustic innovations. The Reference remains a benchmark in high-fidelity loudspeakers, and now many of its groundbreaking technologies have been distilled into the KEF R Series, delivering exceptional performance for music and home theatre.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) in the R Series

At the heart of every KEF R Series speaker is Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). This innovative, maze-like structure absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the back of the driver, virtually eliminating distortion and ensuring purer, more natural audio.

Uni-Q® Driver with MAT™ – Sit Anywhere, Hear Every Detail

The 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array with MAT™ is found across the R Series. Acting as a single point source, Uni-Q® disperses sound evenly throughout the room, removing the narrow ‘sweet spot’ and letting everyone enjoy the same natural, detailed sound wherever they sit.

Performance Redefined in KEF R Series Speakers

Every element of the KEF R Series design has been engineered for acoustic excellence. Tuned to reveal incredible detail and depth, the R Series recreates the excitement of a live performance, complete with all the emotion and nuance of the original recording.

Shadow Flare Technology - A Flare for Detail

Inherited from The Reference, Shadow Flare technology reduces harmful high-frequency diffraction by extending the Uni-Q® waveguide effect. The result is clearer treble and vastly improved fine detail for a more transparent, lifelike sound.

Precision Damping for Pure Performance

To achieve flawless sound, the R Series cabinet design uses constrained layer damping. Internal braces connected with a ‘lossy’ material convert unwanted vibrations into heat, ensuring the cabinet remains silent so all you hear is the music.

Beautiful by Design - KEF R Series Aesthetics

The KEF R Series speakers are as beautiful as they are powerful. Acoustic performance drives every design detail, from precision internal engineering to a sleek, minimal exterior that blends seamlessly into modern or traditional interiors.

Dedicated Microfibre Grilles

The R Series has been engineered to perform with or without grilles. The dedicated microfibre grilles are crafted from multiple layers of material and have a suede-like feel. With 1801 precision-cut holes for each driver, performance is ensured even when the drivers are covered. The magnetic fixings provide a secure and precise fit, in keeping with the clean styling of the R Series.

KEF R Series - Best Product Review

"Whether used for music or movies, across the speakers there's a dynamic, detailed and thrillingly natural sound combining controlled, extended lows with open, wide-reaching highs." EISA Loudspeaker Series 2023-2024

Our Review

Designed to visually and tonally match the smaller KEF R series speakers, this centre channel is an essential part of any KEF R series home theatre system. Even though the sound is big, the proportions are remarkably constrained, thanks in no small part to the 12th generation Uni-Q® mid/treble driver which forms the heart of the speaker. Available in a range of matching high class finishes the R2 Meta is the only choice for small to medium KEF home theatre installations based around the critically acclaimed R series.
