3XR™ Architecture for Loud & Clear Bass: Descend Series subwoofers feature Definitive Technology's new 3XR™ Architecture, providing three times the bass-producing radiating surface area of a traditional ported subwoofer. This extra surface area moves more air, resulting in massive bass. And because 3XR™ doesn't use ports, it provides crystal-clear lows with no port noise distortion.

Fits Nearly Everywhere: The DN8 is just over 12" wide, enabling it to fit virtually any room or system. And due to its 3XR™ Architecture, it performs like a 10" subwoofer even though it has an 8" driver. With the DN8, you get tons of bass from a 1' sub.

Custom Class D Digital Amplification: The DN8 is equipped with a 500W peak custom Class D digital amplifier, designed to get the most out of the DN8's 3XR™ Architecture. This custom amplification gives the Descend DN8 enough power and efficiency to play as low as 35Hz.

Control & Customization: You can customize the DN8 to the needs of your own application, system and space. The DN8 features built-in controls to adjust volume, low pass filter and phase (0/180°) for optimum bass levels. Set its power toggle to Auto on/off or DC control for fast and easy on/off power switching.

The Descend DN8 has an 8" long-throw woofer driven by a 200 Watt RMS Class D amplifier, with dual 8" passive radiators to extend low-end output. Its proprietary 3XR™ architecture increases surface area and airflow, helping it get as loud and low as a ported sub - but without introducing pesky port turbulence. Definitive Technology explains that this design produces bass similar to a 10" sub, but with a smaller cabinet. That means you can enjoy accurate, hard-hitting bass even if you don't have a ton of room to spare.

The dedicated LFE input hooks up to the subwoofer output of your home theatre receiver, but you can also connect with a pair of speaker-level five-way binding post inputs. Using the built-in variable low-pass crossover, you have control over what frequencies the sub plays when using the speaker-level inputs.
