The name PX7 S2e refers to 'evolved', itself a link to one of Bowers & Wilkins key philosophies for their products: the notion of 'Excellence, Evolved'.
In this case, the PX7 S2e is evolved from the standard PX7 S2, a model already considered to be among the leaders in its category. Its 40mm bio-cellulose drive units are unchanged, but its 24-bit DSP has been revised with a series of tuning improvements derived from the flagship PX8. The aim is even higher resolution, greater extension and a broader, more immersive soundstage – changes that elevate the PX7 S2e even more within its class.
The highly regarded and elegant design has also been subtly revised to both keep the model looking fresh and to differentiate it from older standard-performance PX7 S2 models. And Bowers & Wilkins is also introducing a brand new colour – Forest Green – giving the range four colours for the first time.

The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e is built around an all-new acoustic platform designed to deliver unmatched high-resolution sound quality. At its heart are custom-designed 40mm drive units, specifically created to suit the requirements of headphone listening. The drivers offer an ultra-fast response, allowing them to faithfully reproduce every nuance in a piece of music, while remaining supremely low in distortion, resulting in a more accurate, high-resolution presentation. PX7 S2e combines that high-performance drive unit configuration with Qualcomm's aptX adaptive wireless technology to automatically optimise wireless music transmission from compatible phones, tablets and computers. Coupled with powerful Bowers & Wilkins-developed DSP (Digital Signal Processing), the result is outstanding 24-bit high-resolution sound quality from suitable streaming services. USB-C and 3.5mm cable connections are also supported, with both cable types included in the carry case that accompanies the product.
Splendid Isolation: Bowers & Wilkins engineers have worked tirelessly to refine PX7 S2e's noise-cancellation performance. The PX7 S2e uses proprietary Bowers & Wilkins optimised noise cancellation technology to effectively shut out unwanted noise without harming musicality. Six upgraded high-performance microphones work together to deliver the best results: two measure the output of each drive unit, two react to ambient noise from the outside world and two provide outstanding voice clarity with enhanced noise suppression. Careful positioning and angling of those microphones enhances performance even in the noisiest environments.
Effortless Use: The PX7 S2e also works directly with the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. The App can be used to pair PX7 S2e to a mobile device, fine-tune the sound through adjustable EQ, activate or disengage the noise-cancelling transparency mode to let in more or less of the outside world and finally, monitor the headphone's charge levels.
Physical controls on each earcup are also included, ensuring full control even without the App, while users can also use PX7 S2e to seamlessly launch their phone's Voice Assistant at the touch of a button. With 30 hours of battery life, PX7 S2e can play all day long, and more, on just one charge, while a 15-minute quick recharge is sufficient to provide up to seven hours of additional listening time.

Our Take
Bowers & Wilkins have moved things along with the PX7 S2e Over-Ear Bluetooth Headphones. These are some of the most comfortable headphones we have ever experienced and certainly some the most finely crafted we have ever laid hands on. All that would be for nought, however, if they didn't sound great. But hey, they're Bowers & Wilkins's, so what would you expect but the type of crystal clear, deep, spacious almost holographic sound quality we've all come to expect from this iconic brand. I think, if John Bowers was still around, he would have been very pleased with these headphones. He might even have picked up a pair for himself.
