About The AudioQuest Rocket 11 Terminated Speaker Cable (Pair Silver Banana Plugs)
When Bill Low created AudioQuest in 1980 it was really just a small variation of the audio activities he had started in 1972 when at school. He wanted the best audio sound then and we are pleased to say nothing has changed. It all started with speaker cable and the story continues.
AudioQuest's Rocket 11 speaker cables are designed to help audio systems sound their very best. AudioQuest cables are known for their ability to deliver smooth, engaging sound that never sacrifices a bit of detail. The company's goal is to transfer signals as faithfully as possible, and it's reflected in their motto: "Do no harm." AQ's secret recipe combines innovative design, top-quality materials, and lots and lots of careful listening.
In a conventional multi-strand cable, distortion caused by electrical and magnetic strand interaction is compounded as each strand changes position within the bundle. In an AQ Semi-Solid Concentric cable, strands within the bundle maintain their fixed relationships, significantly reducing distortion. Long-Grain Copper (LGC) allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance.
Concentric Conductors: Semi-Solid Concentric conductors are a far-superior performance alternative to typical stranded conductors. Semi-Solid Concentric conductors use fewer, larger strands that do not change position down the length of the cable. The strands maintain their fixed, rigid relationships, reducing distortion, improving resolution and dynamics, and greatly minimizing harshness and confusion due to strand interaction.
Long-Grain Copper: LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, fewer impurities and fewer grain boundaries than standard OFHC copper.
Double Low-Inductance Twisted Pair Geometry: A typical speaker cable with parallel conductors has fairly high inductance, smearing energy across time, which results in sound that is dull and unfocused. In Rocket 11, the two conductors in each half of the cable are twisted around one another, providing lower inductance, greater clarity, and superior bass-to-treble frequency extension.
High Quality Connectors: Rocket 11 is prepared with SureGrip 300 Banana Plugs. These connectors feature Direct-Silver over copper with no layer of nickel in between.
Please Note: Gold Plated Banana Plugs & Silver or Gold Plated Spade Connectors are available to special order.
Our Take
Good quality speaker cable will "preserve" the original sound emanating from your amplifier and allow the purity of the signal to remain intact. No, it won't make it better because that is not possible. However, the better the cable, the closer you get to the original sound, the more you will enjoy it and the less fatigue you will experience when listening for longer. Terminated pairs like these from AudioQuest take the hassle out of fitting the plugs yourself and actually cost less!
