About The AudioQuest Forest USB Type A to C Cable

The AudioQuest Forest USB Type A to C Cable with 0.5% Silver conductors is your entry into high quality USB cables that feature not only incredibly high transfer rates but also minimal noise and interference.

USB cables have become ubiquitous in our lives and you would be hard placed to find anyone who doesn't own quite a collection. USB C is the new kid on the block, is smaller than most other variants and is, thankfully, reversible so there's no guessing which way around it goes, it just works every time.

AudioQuest's Forest USB A to C cable is designed to either charge your USB C device or improve high-res signal transfer or both. The USB Type A plug is the standard one we have come to know and put up with on our computers and chargers. They are not reversible and it seems the odds are not in your favour when trying to insert one of these little suckers. It seems the wrong way is often the one you've chosen, only to have to turn the plug over and try again. Not easy when you're trying to reach behind equipment or computers to plug it in. Enter the USB C plug which is quite a lot smaller but is also, joy of joys, reversible so no matter which way you try and insert it is always correct. Big sighs of relief from cable connecting people all over the known universe.

USB C connections are fast becoming the norm on many devices because of their incredibly high transfer rate. This Forest cable ensures those transfers also occur with minimal noise and interference. And the design also reduces the timing errors or "jitter" that can make digital music sound less focused.

AudioQuest is known for their superior build quality, and this Forest USB cable is a great example. It features solid-core conductors made of high-purity Long-Grain Copper, which is plated with a very thin layer of 0.5% silver. High-frequency audio and video signals travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductors. This surface layer of high-purity silver brings the performance of Forest very close to that of a solid silver cable, but it's priced much closer to solid copper cables.

Insulation: Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) insulation keeps energy from leaking out of the conductors, preserving signal strength. And both the cable and conductors are reinforced to prevent strain and keep the connections solid.

Build Quality: The Forest USB A to C cable uses and applies the same superior materials and design elements and are built using the same extreme data-centre-capable manufacturing techniques as all AudioQuest digital cables - ingredients that have garnered AudioQuest USB cables worldwide recognition for their superior performance.

Terminations: Precision gold-plated plugs are carefully attached with the very best solder. Through choice of flux and metallurgy, AQ solder has been optimised to make a low-distortion connection. The difference you hear between solders is a result of connection quality. AQ solder does not have a high silver content because the more silver there is in solder, the more difficult it is to make a good connection.

About USB

The letters USB stand for Universal Serial BUS and this was established by a stalwart group of companies such as Intel, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft (just to name a few) in order to give the personal computing world a truly universal standard and means to connect devices such as hard drives, printers, cameras and more importantly, to us, our audio components. Included in the original description are protocols for the pristine transfer of audio over USB. Great care and sensitivity went into this design. Consequently, a computer connected to a USB-enabled digital-to-analogue converter can outperform the best compact disc players available today. AudioQuest is committed to contributing products that honour USB's ability to deliver state-of-the-art performance on this new and wonderful frontier.

Our Take

Looking to buy a new laptop? Wanting to slim down your mountainous USB cable collection? It might just be time to embrace USB C. The Forest USB A to C cable can be used in a variety of settings and offers high speed combined with low noise and minimal timing errors. Naturally, because it's made by AudioQuest, the quality of design and construction is second to none. Buy with confidence.
