About Atacama Isolation Gel Pads

Speaker stand isolation is critical to the performance of your speakers. At Audio Trends, we want you to attain the best possible performance from your speakers and your stands. These non slip isolation pads not only make your speakers sound better, they also protect your speakers from scratches from the stand.

Designed to adhere to speaker stand top plates, the Atacama Gel Pads are made from a high performance polyurethane elastomer which, as well as being non-slip and non scratch, gives excellent sound and vibration resistance.

The Gel Pads isolate your speaker from the stand. The theory being that the less vibrations that are transmitted to the floor, more energy will go out into the room. The results? Better low frequency reproduction and less ringing sound from the stands.

Why Do You Need Speaker Stands?

That question is often quickly followed up with another: "Can't they just sit on the floor?" The truth is you can put the speakers wherever you like but the location and positioning absolutely and significantly affect performance. When bookshelf sized speakers are placed on the floor or against a wall their sonic output becomes 'connected' to the floor or walls. This results in sound that is muddy, distorted and lacking in clarity. Speaker stands elevate and isolate speakers from floors and walls. Sound is clearer and cleaner with much better imaging and a greater sense of realism.

How To Make Stands Even Better

The centre post/tubes in most speaker stands are hollow and  can be 'filled' to further dampen vibrations, help minimise unwanted resonances and as a bonus extra, provide added stability. To make your stands sound even better, Audio Trends recommend that you fill the stands with Atabites SMD-Z 7.5kg inert filler to achieve maximum sonic performance.
