About The WireWorld Starlight 8 USB Type A to B Data Cable

Utilising Wireworld's new Uni-Path design, the Starlight 8 USB cable provides higher fidelity than round USB cables selling for much more. With silver-clad copper conductors, Starlight's sound is rich and three-dimensional.

Many Digital to Analogue Convertors (DACs) use USB to receive digital audio signals at bit rates up to 24bit/192kHz or more. Wireworld Starlight 8 meets and surpasses that spec and steps up the game significantly over Wireworld Ultraviolet by adding silver-cladding to the oxygen-free copper conductors which aids in higher signal transfer integrity. In fact there is 3 times the silver content compared to Ultraviolet and it exceeds the official USB high-speed specifications. The connectors at each end are also plated with 24 Karat gold.

Composilex 3 Insulation: Insulation materials are considered very important in cable design and designers usually select whatever standard materials they find to work the best. The problem with that approach is that none of those standard materials provide both low loss and low triboelectric noise. To overcome that limitation, Wireworld developed their own composite insulation materials. Now in their third generation, Composilex 3 insulation materials are uniquely blended to minimise both noise and loss, enabling you to hear more musical detail and three-dimensionality than ever before.

Composilex 3 insulation has made great improvements in the performance of Wireworld Series 8 cables. It is totally unique to Wireworld and the incredibly quiet background, tonal purity and expansive soundstaging it provides are a revelation in sonic realism. It works by reducing triboelectric noise, which is caused by static charge/discharge effects generated where conductors touch insulation. The noise is induced by movement, vibration and signal energy. Engineered for the lowest triboelectric noise of any low loss insulation material, including DuPont Teflon, Composilex 3 provides a major advance in preserving tonality, spatiality and dynamic contrast.

Uni-Path Technology: The Uni-Path design provides similar advantages to the more complex DNA Helix design in lower cost and smaller scale applications. Uni-Path improves electromagnetic efficiency and shielding. This innovation enables more of the original signal information to be reproduced, improving both sound and imaging.

The Challenge Of USB Audio: Wireworld USB audio cables utilise unique new designs that minimise jitter by providing sharper waveforms than the standard USB cable design. They provide the lowest jitter available at each price point, producing distinct improvements in tone quality, clarity, image focus, smoothness and dynamic range.

There is a fundamental difference between the transfer of computer data and digital audio signals. Computers are able to transfer digital data without loss, because the data moves in the robust form of blocks, which do not depend on specific timing between the sending and receiving devices. However, digital audio signals are continuous streams of data, which are quite fragile, since the digital processor must remain perfectly locked onto the timing of the signal to avoid data losses.

The Limitations of digital audio processors and cables create timing errors known as jitter, which remove portions of the audio signal and replace them with noise and distortion. Cables tend to round off the square waveforms of the signal, making them less clear to the processor, thus increasing jitter. This rounding effect varies greatly among cables and a truly superior digital audio cable can make great improvements in sound quality.

About USB

The letters USB stand for Universal Serial BUS. This protocol was established by a stalwart group of companies such as Intel, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft (just to name a few) in order to give the personal computing world a truly universal standard and means to connect devices such as hard drives, printers, cameras and, more importantly to us, our audio components. Included in the original description are protocols for the pristine transfer of audio over USB. Great care and sensitivity went into this design. Consequently, a computer connected to a USB-enabled digital-to-analogue converter can - in many people's opinion - outperform the best compact disc players available today. WireWorld is committed to contributing products that honour USB's ability to deliver state-of-the-art performance on this new and wonderful frontier.
