About the Parasound NewClassic 2125 v.2

The Parasound NewClassic 2125 v.2 is the first THX Ultra2 certified model in a fresh new range of Class AB amplifiers that can shine in various situations. It packs some serious muscle and offers the versatility to be used as the basis for a superb sounding stereo system when used with a suitable preamp or streamer but can also be incorporated in more adventurous home theatre systems to upgrade the dynamic range of your AV receiver to take your surround sound system to the next level.

The NewClassic components from Parasound have become verifiable classics, and the new range of power amps are set to take that success to new heights. As opposed to the very nice Class D amplifier module in the NewClassic 200 Integrated, the NewClassic 2125 v.2, 2125 v.2 and 2250 v.2 use Parasound's tried and tested Class AB circuitry to produce great sound from a cool running, versatile and feature rich amplifier solution that will find many a happy home in an audiophile or videophile's system.

In a stereo system, the natural partner for the NewClassic 2125 v.2 is the wonderful Parasound NewClassic 200 Preamplifier which complements it perfectly. Alternatively, a music streamer with a good quality variable output could also prove to be a great match. This amplifier can also be rack mounted (2U high without the feet), making it the perfect alternative in a commercial setting.

The other way you may want to use this amplifier is to upgrade your home theatre. Because an AV receiver has to drive so many speakers at once the sound quality and sense of power can be upgraded substantially with the addition of a quality power amplifier to drive the front left and right speakers while leaving the AV receiver to drive the rest. Of course, if your AV receiver has pre outs for other channels you can keep adding power amps to raise the sound quality and dynamic potential even further. And remember, the NewClassic 2125 v.2 can be used in mono mode to produce a whopping 400 Watts. How about one each for your front left, right & centre channels? We think this upgrade would put a huge smile on your face.

A Closer Look At The NewClassic

Thanks to Parasound, anybody can afford to get onboard its NewClassic series of amplifiers. With an advanced and extremely efficient low-heat design, this superb new product line of power amps runs cooler than previous Parasound Classic series models, making these amps ideal for rack or cabinet mounting. The newly designed power supplies deliver all the voltage you need for transient peaks in musical programs and stunning special effects.

The Perfect Amp for Medium To Large Rooms: The Model 2125 v.2 is the perfect amplifier for medium to large rooms with its 150-watt-per-channel output at 8 ohms and 225 watts at 4 ohms. It will also deliver 400 watts into 8 ohms or 4 ohms in bridged mono mode. And it boasts 35 amps of peak current per channel for superior resolution of demanding musical peaks. The sound quality, as usual, is pure Parasound all the way.

Fully Discrete Circuitry: Fully discrete circuitry with a large toroidal transformer keeps the noise floor exceptionally low and the musical signal pure. The 'Class AB' circuitry provides efficient operation with less heat output than pure 'Class A' for the highest degree of reliability with DC servo and relay protection circuitry. Standby, channel status, and high temperature indicators keep you informed of the operation status.

Ideal for Custom Installations: The NewClassic amplifiers have several features that make them ideal for custom installation. These include automatic switch on and off when the amplifier detects the presence or absence of an audio signal. It can also switch on and off via its DC trigger with looping output. The soft touch power buttons glow in standby mode.

Safely Power Two Sets Of Speakers: Although the NewClassic 2125 v.2 has plenty of power, the big danger with hooking up 2 sets of speakers is the combined impedance load which can cause problems for an amplifier. Cunningly, Parasound have included an impedance switch on the back panel which you can employ if you are using low impedance or hard to drive speakers. This means the amplifier will be perfectly happy driving your chosen speakers, whatever they may be. If you have the amplifier set to bridged mono, it can drive two speakers in mono. This could be used to bi-amp a single speaker, for instance.
