Our Take
We always like to imagine HDAM is short for Hot Damn, which would be so much cooler, but it actually stands for Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules which is the technology Marantz use in the analogue output stage which are superior to off-the-shelf IC chip solutions found in other products and have been further optimised for the CD 50n to flow current more accurately to reduce distortion.
Of course, the CD 50n is a whole lot more than just a CD Player. It is also a high-resolution streamer which can access local stored music or web based streaming services. And, it can connect your 4K TV to your stereo system via its HDMI ARC input. In fact the input options on the CD 50n are a little mind blowing including AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Ethernet & Wi-Fi, USB-A for a USB drive as well as USB-B for a computer and of course the usual Optical & Coaxial Digital input options. It can also send digits out via Optical or Coaxial, just in case.
