About The Taga Harmony TAV-807B Speakers
The Taga Harmony TAV-807B speakers represent outstanding value for money in the world of audio. These speakers are a part of the new generation Audio-Video series, which is a departure from its predecessors, offering a fresh approach to design and sound. While they may not be the absolute pinnacle of audio performance, they excel at delivering high-quality sound at an affordable price point. The TAV-807B stands out as a flagship bookshelf model in this series, providing premium sound for both stereo and multichannel audio systems.
What sets these speakers apart is the dedication to intensive listening tests and sound adjustments, prioritizing the emotional and passionate aspect of music. The result is a speaker that offers deep, well controlled bass, a smooth and rich midrange, and detailed, crystal-clear highs. The open and airy soundstage creates a captivating listening experience.
Moreover, the TAV-807B is packed with features. It boasts a large 8" bass-midrange driver with a rear slotted bass reflex port, delivering extended low-frequency response and dynamic range that you'd typically find in much larger speaker. The upgraded 1" silk dome high-frequency driver ensures accurate, clear, and detailed sound. The 2nd generation TWG-I tweeter faceplate, with its specialized horn-like design, contributes to a three-dimensional and natural soundstage.
And, this new generation of speakers incorporates several key improvements over its predecessors. The second-generation TLIE-I enclosure, with a thicker front baffle and additional internal bracing, reduces unwanted resonances. High-quality damping materials enhance the smoothness and characteristics of the sound across all ranges.
These speakers are a testament to Taga Harmony's commitment to providing exceptional audio quality at an accessible price point, making them one of the best values in the speaker market. The TAV-807B speakers offer an immersive and highly enjoyable listening experience that will satisfy many audiophiles and music enthusiasts.
A Closer Look
Cabinet: TLIE-I – The 2nd generation of Taga Low Interference Enclosures is made of high-quality, high-density MDF boards (21 mm for the front baffle and 12 mm for other walls) with inside braces to increase stiffness and limit any unwanted resonances. The shapes are perfectly crafted not only to look wonderful and modern but mainly to lower any unwanted vibrations, diffractions or turbulences, which can affect the sound performance.
The steep enclosure top is leaned at around 4 degrees from the front to the rear to further limit unwanted resonances and turbulences. High-end enclosure damping material is used to better break up the standing waves, lower resonances and limit distortions what improves the smoothness and characteristics of sound in all ranges.
Carefully selected high quality vinyl finishes are very durable, elegant, imitate natural wood texture and are very pleasant in touch. The vinyl finishes are neatly applied to cabinets using precise machinery to provide the best looks.
Tweeter: Upgraded 1" (25 mm) silk dome high-frequency driver with oversized magnet, ferrofluid cooling and heavy duty copper voice coil can handle high power and the result is very accurate, clear, smooth, detailed and airy sound.
2nd Generation TWG-I Tweeter Faceplate (Taga WaveGuide): The specialized horn-like design of the tweeter's faceplate utilizing concave diffusers assists with equal and flat dispersion of sound in and off the axis of the driver. In the newest edition the shape and depth have been redesigned to allow better flow of the sound and even wider dispersion which helps to build a more three-dimensional and natural soundstage. Minimizing the number of components means better structural rigidity, lower distortions and resonances.
Large Mid/Bass Driver: Upgraded 8" (203 mm) woofer driver – ultra-light polypropylene cone with elastic rubber suspension, 100 mm magnet structure, heavy duty voice coil and coil former copped with more rigid driver chassis are built to withstand higher power handling and longer operation time without increasing driver temperature which results in deeper, more musical and precise bass as well as rich and very natural midrange response. The flat dust cap supports air flow and smoothens the frequency response.
Bass Reflex Loading: Each TAV-807B Speaker uses a high-velocity rear slotted port which provides unrestrained flow of air, enhancing the reproduction of the lowest frequencies generated by the bass-midrange driver.
Crossover: The TAV-807B uses high quality, close-tolerance and precisely selected crossover components and internal wires for absolute sound neutrality, high long-term power and reliability.
Internal Wiring: Taga Harmony utilizes high quality internal wiring to connect the crossovers with the drivers assuring that incoming audio signals from the receiver or amplifier will not lose any important details on the path to the drivers.
Binding Posts: High quality, gold-platted banana binding posts accept raw speaker cables up to 10AWG as well as Banana Plugs & Spades.
Our Take
In the words of one of our senior staff members and someone who regularly tests new arrivals to see if they get to stay, these speakers are little belters. He says they're like junior party speakers which should let you know exactly what to expect. So, don't expect to fill an auditorium, but used sensibly in your home with a ballsy enough amplifier, you should be able to get the dance party going no problem. At the price we think they're a thumping bargain, and they look pretty good too so domestic harmony should be maintained as well.
