About The Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Amplifier
The Elicit MK5 stereo integrated amplifier is designed and built to the highest standard. Housed in Rega's latest custom case to match the rest of the Rega range, the new MK5 builds on previous Rega designs by using their multi-award-winning Class A/B power amplifier circuit to deliver a powerful 105 W per channel into 8 Ω loads (127 W into 6 Ω). Rega's engineers have designed a new Rega DAC circuit offering digital connectivity and greater integration with a variety of other products. Rega have taken great care to incorporate a high quality MM phono stage and the headphone output has been configured such that the speaker switching is performed by the output mute relay to avoid obstructing the signal path.
The new Elicit MK5 calls on decades of electronic design experience. It is a complex blend of three of Rega's most successful products which promises to deliver big on sound, power, features and style. The Elicit MK5 is capable of driving difficult loudspeakers with ease and will integrate perfectly into any audio system by offering a wide range of connectivity options. In addition to Line, Digital, and a high-quality Moving Magnet (MM) Phono Input, you will also find Pre-Out, Direct In, Record Loop functionality and the high-performance Headphone Output.
The Elicit MK5 now shares other design features taken directly from the highly acclaimed Aethos amplifier. You will find the same discrete FET based pre-amplifier circuit, plus an Alps volume potentiometer has been introduced to further improve sonic and technical performance. As you would expect, special attention has been paid to the selection of key audio components. Discrete circuitry, high-quality relays, polypropylene capacitors, and Sanken output transistors are used throughout the design.
The galvanically/optically isolated digital inputs utilise a Wolfson S/PDIF receiver IC to provide exceptional detail and clarity from any connected source. Output is provided by a Wolfson DAC and Rega designed discrete line-driver circuit. The new Elicit MK5 calls upon decades of award-winning experience in amplifier and digital circuit design which culminates in a perfectly engineered balance of reliability, connectivity and above all, accurate music reproduction.
Rega Elicit MK5 Reviews
"Rega have combined musicality with a real sense of propulsion in the new Elicit, which may turn short listening sessions into much longer ones. You have been warned!" The Ear
"Just over 30 years on from the original, the Elicit integrated remains an excellent choice for those that prioritise sonic performance. While this latest iteration offers more features than previous generations, it still can't be said to be particularly generous in this respect. But, what's left is one of the best sounding integrated amplifiers available at this price, one that's as comfortable with digital sources as it is with analogue. Recommended? You bet." What Hi-Fi?
"This is a superb amplifier for the money, worth the asking price even without its phono and digital capabilities. It's made in the U.K. to boot." Darko Audio
"… the Rega Elicit MkV is by no means inexpensive but given the array of features on offer as well as the outstanding sound quality it should serve as the hub of an excellent system. I was sorry to see it go. Highly recommended." The Ear
Our Take
The Rega Elicit has always been one of our best selling amplifiers and now it just got better. The Elicit MK5 uses trickle down technology from the acclaimed Aethos amplifier and uses the same discrete FET based pre-amplifier circuit that helps make that amplifier sound so open and natural. In the Elicit MK5 an Alps volume potentiometer has also been introduced to further improve sonic and technical performance. And, drum roll please, for the first time on an integrated amplifier, Rega has included digital inputs. Shock, horror, what is the world coming to? Fortunately for all you analogue loving souls this has absolutely no negative effect on the amplifier's performance and gives those with a slightly more encompassing view, options, such as being able to plug their TV directly into their Rega amplifier for the very first time. 2 channel home theatre anyone? Of course, there is also a top class moving magnet phono stage included which is just begging for a Rega Planar 3 or Planar 6 to be plugged in and your vinyl collection to be explored and enjoyed anew.
