About The Klipsch The Nines

Klipsch The Nines powered monitors deliver room-filling sound without taking up much space thanks to a built-in amplifier that is custom-engineered for these high-performance speakers, maximizing output and sound quality.

Choosing a speakers to play your favourite tunes has never been easier. The Klipsch Nines are sure to impress even the fussiest of audiophiles. Whether you are connecting to a turntable, television, computer, or smart phone, The Nines provide the solution. The Nines come equipped with an integrated phono pre-amp, Bluetooth® 5, HDMI-ARC, digital optical, analogue RCA and USB inputs, allowing you to enjoy superior stereo sound from a beautifully crafted tabletop stereo system.

Klipsch Heritage Design: Incorporating luxury materials such as real wood veneer and tactile spun copper switches and knobs, the Klipsch Nines blend the acoustics and classic design legacy of Paul W. Klipsch with the latest technologies available.

Custom Engineered Amplifiers: As stated above Klipsch The Nines incorporate individual ultra-low noise amplifiers that are custom designed to maximize system performance and eliminate the need for external amplification. World- class Klipsch engineers picked and tuned the components to be an absolute perfect match throughout, making the system sound incredibly immersive and complete. The Nines are also bi-amped resulting in improved clarity and output.

Two Way Driver Design: The Nines feature 1" titanium tweeters on Tractrix® horns, a proprietary technology that has been the driving force behind the stunningly precise Klipsch acoustics. Each powered monitor also features a 8" long-throw woofer and is ported to provide enhanced bass.

Dynamic Bass EQ: As the human ear perceives frequencies differently with variations in output, The Nines will dynamically match the ear's ability to hear lower frequencies. Typically, only available with audio/video receivers, dynamic volume is a first for Klipsch powered monitors. What you get is powerful bass whether the listening volume is low, cranked up or somewhere in between.

192KHZ/24-BIT Decoding: The Nines powered monitors also feature 192kHz / 24-bit decoding for flawless reproduction of high-resolution audio tracks from your PC or streaming source.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Nines Speaker system features Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology so you can enjoy streaming online music services, internet radio, or music content stored on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer. Pairing your Bluetooth source device with the Nines is extremely easy; just press and hold the source button on the speaker and select "Klipsch The Nines" on your Bluetooth device. The speakers will only pair with one device at a time. Once paired, the Nines will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 240 metres). Yes, you read correctly, the new Bluetooth 5.0 has an incredible range, compared to its predecessor 4.0. Note: You will still control your music from your Bluetooth source device (not the speaker).

Optical Digital Input: The Klipsch Nines are fitted with an optical (Toslink) digital input on the back of the "Right" speaker for connection to a digital audio device like your TV, Blu-ray, or CD player. The speaker's optical digital input will accept 2 channel stereo PCM only (up to 24-bit/96kHz).

Aux Input: The Klipsch Nines also features a 3.5mm analogue input, so you can connect practically any audio source via either a 3.5mm-to-3.5mm audio cable or an RCA-to-3.5mm audio cable (sold separately). Connect your portable music player, TV, or any audio source with an analogue audio output or headphone jack. The Aux input is located on the back of the "Right" speaker.

Line or Phono Analogue Input: In addition, the Klipsch Nines is equipped with a stereo RCA input that can be used as a Line or Phono (MM) input. There is a switch on the back-panel that lets you select between line-level or the built-in phono (MM) preamp. Connect your CD player, Blu-ray player, Turntable, and other audio sources with an analogue audio output. The Line/Phono input and switch is located on the back of the "Right" speaker.

Subwoofer Output: The Nines also include a subwoofer output so you can easily add a powered sub to the system. The subwoofer output consists of a mono-RCA jack and is located on the back of the "Right" speaker.

Controls: The Klipsch Nines come with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the speaker system. The remote provides the following control functions - Power on/off, Source selection, Volume up/down, Sub level, and LED illumination. There is also Power, Source, and Volume controls on the top of the "Right" speaker.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The included 2 metre detachable AC power cord plugs into the back of the "Right" speaker and then into an AC wall outlet, surge protector, or power conditioner.

Proprietary Speaker Cable: The included 6 metre proprietary speaker cable connects the Klipsch Nines' powered speaker (Right) and slave speaker (Left) together for power and audio signal.

Klipsch The Nines Review

Quality of fit and finish is very good, with immaculate woodwork and large cork pads underneath to avoid scuffs to your furniture. The controls are unique and gorgeous, with knurled metal dials controlling the source and volume, with white LED lights to indicate the setting. Smooth and well-weighted, the dials are a joy to use. A small but easy-to-use remote control is also included. Even the speaker and power cables are cloth covered, which is a nice touch. The speakers are available in both ebony and walnut wood finishes, with retro-styled grill cloths supplied.

The Nines don't disappoint sonically. They have the ability to perform musical fireworks in your listening space, with a vibrant and colourful presentation. Typical of the Klipsch brand is a bias towards producing prestigious amounts of deep powerful bass. If you have come from a background of listening to earbuds and a soundbar, you are in for a treat with The Nines, getting a taste of what real loudspeakers are capable of, despite fairly modest dimensions!

Watching movies with The Nines is a lot of fun. With a scary amount of deep usable bass at your command, I certainly didn't miss having a subwoofer, although one is available. Explosions, crashes, and earthquakes were handled without distortion or stress, making most soundbars sound anaemic by comparison. This system's ability to handle dynamic peaks was a real highlight. At the same time, dialogue and detail were clear and easily heard. Male voices, in particular, retained all of their texture and energy.

In a bedroom, I connected The Nines to a smaller TV for late-night viewing and was impressed with the amount of detail and musical intricacy of well-known programmes that I had previously been missing out on. The soundstage was so much larger and well-defined. This was at low volume settings, as I never felt it needed to be turned louder to hear clearer.

Depending on the size of your listening room and how loud and dynamic you like your music, Klipsch has a model in its range to satisfy your needs. The Nines are at the top of the tree and have incredible levels of performance at the price, within a reasonably compact package. Despite the lack of inbuilt network-capable streaming, this system should suit most users' needs and complement modern living, especially when connected to a TV. As Klipsch says: "Simply plug, play, and enjoy." StereoNet

StereoNet Powered Speaker Of The Year 2024

"Klipsch's recent renaissance has coincided with the hi-fi world becoming more attuned to needs of customers, as it gets less snobbish and purist. These retro-styled, self-powered Bluetooth speakers look like the company's full-size models, but which have shrunk in the wash. The Nines offer power and punch aplenty, despite taking up a smallish space. Music is never less than fun, with a live and direct character that's hard not to love – thanks horn-loaded tweeters, real wood veneered cabinets and an impressive 480W of power. Ideal for smaller rooms or second systems, they're real party starters."
