About The Klipsch RP-500SA II Dolby Atmos Elevation Speakers
For those circumstances where in ceiling speakers just aren't an option but you're craving the immersive experience that is Dolby Atmos, elevate your surround sound experience with the Klipsch RP-500SA II Dolby Atmos Elevation speakers.
Here's your ticket to thrilling surround sound effects. The Reference Premiere Series RP-500SA II surround speakers feature proprietary Klipsch speaker technologies designed to work with Dolby Atmos soundtracks to re-create an immersive, high-impact listening experience.
Not familiar with Dolby Atmos? It's the latest surround sound technology from the movie-and-theatre-sound experts at Dolby Laboratories. It adds a height dimension to your home theatre, for enhanced immersion and spatial effects. From the soft patter of a gentle rain to the roar of a jet plane flying overhead, you'll enjoy dynamic surround sound that elevates your entire home theatre.
Bounce Sound Off The Ceiling For Enhanced Surround Effects: How do these speakers work? Each features a Cerametallic™ 133mm (5.25") woofer and a Hybrid Tractrix® 25mm (1") horn tweeter on the top of the speaker. These drivers are angled and feature controlled dispersion, so they can reflect sound off of your ceiling and back down to your listening positions. The RP-500SA speakers are designed to sit on top of your existing floor-standing speakers. Use a pair with your front floorstanding speakers, or add another pair to the rear surround floorstanders for an even more enveloping experience. The RP-500SA II can also be wall-mounted for use as standard, high-performance surround sound speakers.
The Most Versatile Surround Speaker Available: The RP-500SA II can be used as an up-firing immersive speaker for Dolby Atmos Technology, a height speaker or a rear surround model all with the flip of a switch. Immersive sound comes alive from all directions, including overhead, with these Dolby Atmos® enabled speakers. Add to any monitor or tower speaker or use as surround speakers for a hemisphere of rich, detailed sound.
Switchable Crossover: The RP-500SA II features a switchable crossover that changes between Atmos and Surround modes, for optimized performance in any configuration.
90° X 90° Silicon Composite Hybrid Tractrix Horn: Horn loading maximizes efficiently and increases detail while focusing high frequencies towards the listening area. Proprietary Tractrix® geometry provides the most efficient transfer of high frequency waves into the listening area. The phase plug and compressed moulded silicon face ensure smooth frequency response. When combined, the cleanest, most natural sound possible is created. The second generation increases horn size for a larger soundstage and enhanced directivity.
Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) Titanium Diaphragm Tweeter: The exclusive Linear Travel Suspension minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance. LTS tweeters are a hallmark of previous Reference lines, making it a core component of some of the best speakers in the world.
Vented Tweeter Design: The vented tweeter housing reduces standing waves that create unwanted harmonics, resulting in enhanced detail and clarity in high frequency reproduction.
Cerametallic Woofers – All New Design: A signature feature on the Reference Premiere series, Cerametallic™ woofers are exceptionally rigid and lightweight for minimal distortion and maximum efficiency. New voice coils are 70% larger in diameter resulting in improved power handling and greater cone control for greater linearity and flawless reproduction. New aluminium shorting rings reduce distortion as well as increase power handling and the new motor structure improve transit response with more control with greater speed and accuracy.
New & Improved Connections: Featuring audiophile-grade wire and easily accessible aluminium binding posts for any connection type.
Furniture Grade Materials & Finishes: Finishes include ebony vinyl and walnut vinyl that boast satin painted baffles with a scratch resistant finish.
Strong, Flexible, Removable Grille: Attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece.
Rubber Feet: Each RP-500SA II Dolby Atmos speaker features four integrated rubber feet so you can sit the speakers on top of your existing loudspeaker securely. The top of your loudspeaker needs to be flat and measure at least 173mm wide x 320mm deep.
Wall Mounting: The Klipsch RP-500SA II speaker features a single keyhole slot on the back of the cabinet for wall-mounting the speaker without any additional wall-mount bracket (mounting screws not supplied).
Our Take
Klipsch call the RP-500SA II the most versatile surround speaker available and they might just be right. The RP-500SA II can, of course, be used on top of your existing front or rear speakers to provide Dolby Atmos information. But, thanks to some clever design work by Klipsch the RP-500SA II can also be used as a height speaker or a rear surround model all with the flip of a switch on the base of the speaker which changes them from Dolby Atmos speakers to regular surround speakers. Very convenient and a feature that makes the RP-500SA II some of the most versatile surround speakers available – just like Klipsch claim. Nice!
