About The Klipsch Heritage Cornwall IV Speakers

Like all Klipsch Heritage speakers, The Cornwall IV is a lifetime investment. Built to the strictest Klipsch standards, these speakers offer years of gratifying performance. Remember great sound? We do, too. Klipsch has been a part of the Audio Trends journey for a long time.

However, if you're new to this level of performance and are wanting to purchase either a pair of speakers or a complete system, then a pair of Klipsch Heritage Speakers simply has to be added to your Wishlist because they are so different to absolutely anything else we or anybody else sell! The Klipsch Heritage range including the Cornwall IV enclosure is still 100% made in the USA, by proud craftsmen in Hope, Arkansas, just like Paul W. Klipsch (PWK) intended. So here's some of the features. But to really understand the philosophy, you need to arrange a demo.

Drivers: The Cornwall IV incorporates an all new K-702 midrange compression driver, featuring a polyimide diaphragm for exceptional detail and dynamics. The K-702 midrange is mated to a modified Tractrix® horn — featuring Klipsch's patented Mumps technology for even polar response of mid frequencies, giving you more consistent sound throughout the listening area.

Network: The Cornwall IV has been completely revoiced from its predecessor, utilising premium componentry in an all new high-fidelity network — minimising electrical degradation throughout the circuitry — for truer to life sound with best in class efficiency and power handling. The new network draws from the classic three-way steep slope design of the legendary Klipschorn and La Scala speakers.

Tractrix® Ports: Utilising Tractrix geometry, the all new Cornwall IV ports allow for the most efficient, fastest air transfer in their class, which reduces port noise for punchier low frequencies. Klipsch Tractrix ports have custom designed inner flares that help reduce air turbulence entering the port. Less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for cleaner, more powerful bass.

Dual Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Cornwall's premium, aluminium input panel with its heavy-duty binding posts accommodates large, high-quality speaker cables. The two sets of binding posts are connected by what we call 'jumpers' - a hard metal connector and not something from your wardrobe! Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept 'banana' plugs, spade-connectors or bare wire.

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.

Matched Pairs: Every pair of Heritage series loudspeakers is grain-matched, using wood veneer panels that come from the same timber. Each cabinet is carefully matched so that each speaker in the pair is practically indistinguishable from the other. The speakers move seamlessly together through the factory, and each finished product is inspected and labelled with sequential serial numbers, ensuring that your Heritage series speakers leave the factory as a meticulously crafted set.

Book-Matched Wood Veneer: Klipsch only uses book-matched wood veneers for the Heritage series. The veneer leaves are kept in order as they are delicately sliced from the timber and precisely arranged to provide a mirror image at the splice joint — like turning the pages of a book. This gives each speaker an aesthetically appealing and consistent appearance that is treasured more than any other cut of wood veneer.

Built To Last: While each and every component of the Cornwall IV is built to last, Klipsch has always recognised the unique and critical role of a loudspeaker's cabinet in the sound reproduction process. From the craftsmen in Hope, AR to the engineers in Indianapolis, INDIANA, USA, Klipsch has always put an extraordinary emphasis on cabinet design. The Cornwall IV enclosure is assembled using only the highest-grade adhesives and fasteners. This is a speaker you will hand down from generation to generation. It has an industry leading 10-year warranty covering faulty workmanship but not abuse or misuse.

Our Take

As the "largest of the compact" Heritage speakers ("Compact" is strictly by US standards of course), the Cornwall IV offers the highest performance of any non-fully horn-loaded speaker Klipsch make. Only the legendary Klipschorn and La Scala (with their horn-loaded, low-frequency designs) exceed the Cornwall in bass extension and output. Initially introduced in 1959, the Cornwall speaker, now in Mark IV guise, is the next evolution in this near full range horn loaded speaker. Able to fill large rooms effortlessly and make very loud sounds even from modestly powered amplifiers, the Klipsch Cornwall IV speakers are quite a lot of everything for the money. Fun Fact: Belle Klipsch, Paul's first wife, came up with the name Cornwall, because it was able to be used in a Corner or against a Wall.
