About The KEF Q Concerto Meta Bookshelf Speakers

The Q Concerto Meta is the largest in KEF's Q Series bookshelf speaker collection. Paying tribute to the original 1969 Concerto, which was KEF's first 3-way stand mount speaker, this modernised version delivers professional high-end audio quality. Thanks to its 3-way design and Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™), this speaker is certain to deliver high-fidelity performance in a variety of settings.

Revolutionary Sound Absorption with MAT™ in KEF Q Series Speakers

A key innovation in the KEF Q Series speakers is Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). This revolutionary, maze-like structure absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, reducing distortion and delivering purer, more natural audio. Combined with the 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array, MAT™ takes accuracy and clarity to an entirely new level.

3-Way Speaker Design for Greater Accuracy

The evolved Q Series has been upgraded from a 2.5-way to a true 3-way design. The Uni-Q® driver handles high and midrange frequencies, while a dedicated bass driver manages low frequencies. By reducing the movement of the mid-frequency cone, the tweeter delivers smoother, more stable high frequencies. This reduces distortion in the midrange and provides cleaner, more detailed sound.

Deep, Clean, and Controlled Bass Performance

The Q Series bass driver combines a stiff aluminium skin with a paper cone for piston-like precision, delivering fast, punchy bass. A 3D-optimised surround improves linearity at high volumes, while the flared port, engineered with computational fluid dynamics, reduces turbulence and noise. The result is bass that is deeper, cleaner, and more controlled, even at high output.

Refined Crossovers for Seamless Integration

Every KEF Q Series speaker is fine-tuned using over 1,000 measurements in KEF’s UK anechoic chamber. These detailed acoustic tests allow engineers to design precise crossovers that ensure seamless integration between drivers. Drawing on innovations from the LS50 Meta, Blade, The Reference, and R Series, the Q Series achieves optimised signal paths and exceptional performance.

Shadow Flare Technology for Improved Clarity

Inspired by KEF’s flagship models, Shadow Flare technology minimises cabinet diffraction, allowing the Uni-Q® with MAT™ to perform at its best. By extending the waveguide effect, the tweeter is shielded from cabinet edges, reducing interference and improving treble detail. This means instruments and subtle nuances like cymbal brushwork or piano overtones, are reproduced with stunning realism.

Contemporary Design with Premium Finishes

The KEF Q Series combines acoustic performance with modern style. Available in Satin Black, Satin White, and Walnut finishes, the speakers feature colour-matched drivers and magnetic grilles for a clean, seamless look that fits effortlessly into any interior.

Stands and Mounting Options

For optimal performance, Q Series bookshelf speakers can be paired with the dedicated SQ1 Floor Stands. Alternatively, models like the Q1 Meta can be wall-mounted with the B2 Wall Brackets, which provide near-flush installation and protect both wall and speaker while maintaining the ideal listening position.

Build a Versatile Home Theatre System

Mix and match KEF Q Series speakers with KEF subwoofers to create a versatile home theatre system. Whether for movies, TV, or music, the Q Series delivers immersive, room-filling sound that brings your entertainment to life.

Our Review

Featuring KEF's cutting-edge Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™), the speaker absorbs 99% of unwanted sound for enhanced clarity and accuracy. The 12th-generation Uni-Q driver, complemented by a dedicated bass driver, ensures smooth frequency separation, while the refined crossover and Shadow Flare technology reduce distortion for pristine sound quality. Its sleek satin finish and versatile design make it a stylish yet powerful addition to any hi-fi or home theatre setup.
