Product Description

The REL T9i is the top of the range Ti-Series subwoofer from this world renowned British manufacturer. With a combined driven cone area equivalent to a 15" driver the T9i can boogie with the best without breaking a sweat.

Overview

Top of the Ti-Series, the T9i receives a newly redesigned active driver, improved crossover network, upgraded amplifier section and a specially tuned passive radiator, the T9i exceeds all the expectations set by the previous series and vaults this new woofer into the forefront of high performance, low-frequency reproduction.

The T9i’s 254mm ULT passive and 254mm ULT active driver with 300 Watt Class A/B amplifier create a deep and wide soundstage with superior layering and texture. Images are more palpable and separation of instruments is far greater. The T9i delves deep into the lowest frequencies with superb grip and extension; the new lightweight composite woofer allows the T9i to play louder and lower than all previous T-Series designs.

Bassline Blue: Although all REL Subwoofers are supplied standard with a Hi-Level Cable, REL also offer an upgrade Hi-Level Cable called Bassline Blue. This REL designed cable is the perfect way to improve the sound quality of your REL Subwoofer and in fact your entire system. The Bassline Blue cable is an upgrade every REL owner should investigate.

Full Connectivity Suite

T9i’s rear panel embodies classic REL quality. The very large heatsink that allows T9i to run cool for years, a full REL connectivity suite that allows for both perfectly blended musical sub bass, as well as powerful, concussive home theatre bass defines the T9i. Very large soundfield reproduction mates with Full-sized tower speakers and quality monitors.

The amplifier design for T9i is a high current 300 Watt Class A/B linear power amplifier with remote mounted toroidal transformer. These workhorse amps have proven themselves in over 50,000 units to date, with excellent reliability.

REL’s latest input filter design is borrowed from its more expensive sibling (Series R) and is considerably quicker than previous REL designs. This speed is partly responsible for the slam and attack for which Series Ti is known. Note the separate volume controls for High Level and .1 that allow perfect levels for music and home theatre. With REL, there is no need to turn it up for theatre, then turn it down for music.

REL Theatre Reference: Note the High Level Connection that allows seamless blend of sub with main speakers. Note also the .1 input which can be used simultaneously with the high level connection to provide a unique Home Theatre experience that provides truly immersive bass due to the restoration of low bass in the soundtrack to the main speakers.

Heavy Duty Driver Design

The T9i uses a quality stamped steel-frame 254mm Ultra Long Throw (ULT) Lightweight Composite AlloyFibre driver. REL drivers are a big part of their success, with much care and attention paid to producing truly low bass from relatively small drivers, and then engineering them to be able to withstand high power and output for long periods of time. T9i features two drivers - a forward-firing 254mm AlloyFibre driver & a down firing 254mm passive radiator for a driven surface area of a 375mm - equivalent to a 15" driver.

Out of this World Cabinet Technology

The T9i features true Instrument-Grade-Bracing, borrowed from the musical instrument industry. This mechanical bracing is credited with producing a suddenness, impact and dynamics not commonly associated with products in this category. Energy distribution is further aided by heavyweight solid, aluminium feet that allow this newfound speed and 'slam' to more efficiently couple into the room.

The high-gloss lacquer finish in both Piano Black and White allows the T/9i to blend seamlessly with your room décor and main loudspeakers.

Optional Wireless Operation With Arrow

Not content with making the T9i better in every way than its predecessor, REL have added a great new feature that has the ability to banish signal wiring between the subwoofer and your amplifier. Arrow is REL’s latest generation of zero compression wireless. Super fast delivery of both High Level Bass and .1/ LFE ensures the rich, natural warmth that only RELs can deliver. With a throw distance of some 45’(13.7M) Arrow permits flexible placement without sacrificing sound quality. Arrow technology is built into all REL Ti Subwoofers. The Arrow Transmitter/Receiver hardware enables wireless operation and is available separately as an optional extra.

Our Take

Don't under estimate the Brits when it comes to subwoofer designs! The T9i is amazing but not only for home theatre. They are one of the best music/home theatre subwoofers available. Sure, they don't fit into the magic $1,000 price-point, but are worth every cent if performance is key. One of staff members has visited the REL factory in the UK and not only owns the brand but is the reason we now stock it. The biggest plus with REL is the size. This is a subwoofer that belts out amazingly clean bass yet sits compactly in any part of your room. It can do your head in and will definitely have your friends sitting back with jaw open!
