About The Pro-Ject Metallica Limited Edition Turntable

In collaboration with one of heavy rock's greatest acts, Pro-Ject has released the Limited Edition Metallica Turntable! Pro-Ject has a great history of working with artists to create lasting tributes in the shape of brilliantly coloured, thoughtfully designed turntables, and the Metallica turntable might just be their crowning glory.

The surface of the Metallica turntable was treated with a mirror-finished metal logo contour that gives the player its distinctive look. The S-shaped tonearm is fitted with a detachable SME headshell to allow quick cartridge changes. Out of the box, the turntable comes pre-adjusted with Pro-Ject's Pick it S2 C cartridge. Tracking force and anti-skating are both adjustable and make your Metallica Limited Edition Turntable a true investment piece.

ProJect Metallica Limited Edition Turntable

Heavy Glass Platter: The glass platter is a heavy, zero-resonance design. The high mass of the platter produces the tightest and most accurate playback speeds and at the same time allows you to see the stunning turntable and all of its high-quality parts and superb build quality - avoiding the flaws of plastic or lightweight construction.

Aluminium Sub-Platter, Pulley & Feet: The aluminium sub-platter is one of Pro-Ject's most sought after upgrade parts, but comes standard on the Metallica turntable! The aluminium sub-platter adds more mass to the entire platter and drive system, resulting in additional damping of noise and unwanted resonances. The improved tolerances during production also increase overall speed accuracy. The Metallica turntable uses height adjustable heavy-duty metal feet to ensure level positioning on every surface.

Hardwired... To Stable Speeds: In typical Pro-Ject tradition, the speed is electronically precision controlled and guarantees the most accurate and stable speeds. Change between speeds easily with the toggle switch. With the supplied round belt for 78 rpm, you can listen to your shellac records too.

S-Shape Tonearm: The 8.6" S-shape aluminium tonearm comes with a detachable SME headshell which allows you to swap out cartridges quickly and easily. The tonearm bearing and base are machined entirely out of aluminium, and as always you won‘t find any plastic components in these critical parts. The Metallica Limited Edition turntable will track your vinyl records with accuracy and consistency.

About Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject Audio Systems was founded in 1991 by Heinz Lichtenegger. The products are designed in Mistelbach, Austria and exclusively made in Europe at manufacturing plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and then shipped to more than 80 countries world-wide. Pro-Ject are best known for their high quality belt drive turntables which are often seen as the best in class at their various price points. In particular the Debut series of turntables has been the go-to record player of choice for many a budding music lover at the affordable end of the price spectrum.

Pro-Ject turntables allow you to experience again the clarity, warmth and magic to be found in the grooves on your vinyl, at very reasonable prices. With simple designs and high construction standards, performance has always been the priority. Fully manual operation coupled with the best materials and components available at each price level ensures the best possible value. Of course, here at Audio Trends, we've been selling them since the beginning of time (almost) and due to our passion for all things analogue - read vinyl - can tell you everything you need to know about our fantastic range of their products.

Whilst turntables are a large part of the Pro-Ject story the company has also ventured into high quality micro sized audio products in recent years including phono preamps, DAC’s, streamers and amplifiers.

Pro-Ject Metallica Limited Edition Turntable Review

“The turntable features an MDF plinth, which mimics the band’s logo and boasts a mirror finish for extra metal cred. But it’s not just flash designed for heavy rock fans, as this table appears to have audiophile-level appointments, too. Do I want one of these turntables? Yes -- yes, I do. I mean, just look at all... that *waves indistinctly* Do I need one? Not at all. But if you have even a passing interest in heavy metal on vinyl, this turntable looks to have the sound chops as well as the look.” Ty Pendlebury, CNET

Our Take On The Pro-Ject Metallica Limited Edition Turntable

Normally you see plenty of rectangular turntables and even a few round turntables, but we bet you’ve never seen a turntable this shape before. At least one of our senior staff members was ‘very’ excited about this release and it wouldn’t surprise us if he ends up taking one home so he can gaze on its striking form for years to come. Being a Pro-Ject you know this will be a well-constructed, great sounding turntable and if you want something that more closely resembles a piece of sculpture than vinyl playback equipment then this may be just the thing to spice up the living room. We think playing loud rock music on this turntable while doing your best air guitar impression sounds like great late night entertainment for all involved.
