About The Klipsch RP-6000F Speakers
Take your home theatre experience higher with the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-6000F floor-standing speaker. The Reference Premiere Series builds on the acoustics and technologies of Klipsch's classic Reference Series, with important enhancements that provide an even more intense listening experience.
This affordably-priced floor-standing model is the penultimate in Klipsch's Reference Premiere Series. They boast dual 165mm (6.5") woofers for powerful bass and warm, clear mids, plus Klipsch's signature 25mm (1") titanium dome horn tweeter for crisp, extended, highs. Klipsch makes its cones out of specially treated aluminium that's strong yet lightweight to dampen and prevent distortion. With the Reference Premiere Series, Klipsch also gave these woofers a newly developed titanium voice coil former that allows more linear movement for enhanced efficiency, lower distortion, and extended low frequency response. Look around the back, and you'll see that instead of the conventional round port tube found on many speakers, Klipsch uses a Tractrix horn-shaped opening for smoother, more efficient airflow in and out of the cabinet. The resulting decrease in air turbulence makes for cleaner, more powerful bass with reduced port noise and low-frequency distortion. They can handle up to 125 Watts RMS and 500 Watts of peak power.
90°x 90°Hybrid Tractrix Horns: A redesigned Tractrix Horn utilises a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The compressed moulded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to reduce harshness and improve detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible. These 90° x 90° Hybrid Tractrix Horns provide a wider sweet spot while maintaining controlled directivity of the sound.
Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) Titanium Diaphragm Tweeters: Behind the Tractrix Horn lies a 25mm (1") titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound. The Linear Travel Suspension minimises distortion for enhanced, detailed performance. The new vented tweeter housing reduces standing waves that create unwanted harmonics, resulting in enhanced detail and clarity in high frequency reproduction.
Cerametallic Woofers: The woofers of the RP-6000F floor-standing loudspeaker features Klipsch's distinctive, copper-coloured Cerametallic material. Made with an anodised aluminium, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodising process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability. When paired with the Tractrix horn-loaded LTS tweeter, it provides the highest speaker efficiency in its class.
Crossover Network: The Klipsch RP-6000F floor-standing speaker's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequencies offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.
Bass Reflex MDF Enclosure: The Klipsch RP-6000F employs a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing Tractrix port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. Utilising Tractrix geometry, the all new Reference Premiere bass port allows for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet for a clean, powerful low frequency response. The ported enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a premium wood-grain polymer veneer and a polymer front baffle. The speaker's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimise panel vibrations that can colour sound.
Binding Post Terminals: The floor-standing speaker offers dual binding post terminals. The two sets of binding posts are connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs, spade-connectors and bare wire.
Cast Aluminium Feet: The new feet provide a more modern look with less resonance than MDF or ABS plastic. They are mechanically designed to minimize surface area in contact with the floor, decoupling the speaker for faster, tighter low frequencies and more detail.
Strong, Flexible, Removable Grille: The grille attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece.
Dramatic Details: Copper anodized trim rings, cast aluminium feet, satin painted baffles and a laser etched logo treatment give the new Reference Premiere series a modern, premium look.
Our Take On The RP-6000F Speakers
Klipsch speakers deliver a dynamic and fast sound which is nothing less than impressive on movies. Bi-amped they "rock" even more. Add a good sub from Klipsch and you have more than enough foundation shaking bass to "tick off the neighbours."
But there is another big story to tell and that is the subject of sensitivity or speaker efficiency. Most speakers are about 90dB efficiency and in stereo mode and with a modest approach to the volume control does not present any problem for any good amplifier or home theatre receiver. However as surround sound has increased from 5 speakers up to 9 or even 11, so has the demand on the amplifier or home theatre receiver. Combine more speakers with more volume and average efficiency speakers (say 90dB) and your amplifier will run quite hot and go into clipping - a type of distortion. One solution is to add an extra power amplifier to hook up the front two or three speakers. Another solution is to invest in a pair of speakers like the Klipsch RP-6000F. These speakers are a very efficient 97dB, which means you can easily run them with half the power of most other speakers. One of the higher spec receivers will usually do the job beautifully and run nice and 'cool' even at high output levels. Speak with us to get more details or phone in and arrange a demo.
