The AVR-X4500H's advanced video section is fully compatible with the latest HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 specifications on all 8 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs: with 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Colour sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR), 21:9 video, 3D pass-through and is ready for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc players, set-top boxes and other 4K Ultra HD sources. In addition, it can upscale standard and high definition analogue and digital video to 4K Ultra HD, breathing new life into your existing video sources and content.

Full wireless connectivity is provided via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while Apple's Airplay is supported for simple wireless music streaming. High-resolution audio formats and playback are fully supported over network streaming for incredible fidelity. The powerful amplifier section features discrete output devices on all seven channels, each of which is configured identically and rated at 125 Watts (8 ohms, 0.05%THD, 20Hz~20kHz), while its high-current design means the AVR-X4500H can even drive lower impedance 4 ohm speakers on all channels. And you can control it from your smartphone or tablet using the free "Denon AVR Remote" app.

Whole-Home Wireless Audio With HEOS

This is the latest gadget now built-in to this Denon Receiver - Denon HEOS technology - which if you haven't already guessed is what the 'H' stands for. Heos technology allows the AVR-X4500H to be easily integrated into a wireless multi-room audio system. Stream music to HEOS wireless speakers (sold separately) in different rooms, and control each room's speakers independently with the free HEOS app. The app lets you control playback, browse music sources, and select which rooms you want to use. Play the same music throughout your home, or listen to something different in each room. You can play music from your own personal library, internet radio, and popular streaming services like Pandora, Spotify and Tidal, to name just a few.

Alexa Compatible (via firmware update): Through a network firmware update, HEOS and Amazon Alexa customers can now enjoy the convenience of Alexa voice control plus high-quality wireless home audio. In addition to controlling your HEOS components with the HEOS app on your mobile device or tablet, you can now control them with Amazon Alexa voice technology and an Amazon Alexa device (including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap and Echo Show - all sold separately). Voice control features include -

  • Alexa voice commands include Volume (up/down, specific volume number, & mute); Playback (Play, Pause, Stop, Next, Previous, Resume); and Power on/off. The HEOS Bar and HEOS AVR even support HDMI switching (1-4) through Alexa voice command.
  • You can group your HEOS-enabled devices using the HEOS app with an Alexa-friendly name. Once they're grouped, Alexa voice commands will control the group as a whole. If you want to play audio content from only one HEOS-enabled device in the group, you must ungroup the device within the HEOS app.
  • Through a future firmware update (ETA unknown), you will be able to use voice commands to search for songs, albums and artists and even podcasts and internet stations.
  • For a list of current Alexa voice commands supported by the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill, click here.
Note: You will need an Alexa-enabled device (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, or Echo Show - all sold separately) to operate your HEOS products via voice-command. Youre HEOS components and the Alex-enabled devices must be on the same network.

Built-In Bluetooth, Wi-Fi And AirPlay: With all the various devices we use to play music, the hardest part can be playing them all with ease. The AVR-X4500H makes this process quick and very easy. Many new portable devices are equipped with Bluetooth wireless connectivity and the AVR-X4500H’s built-in Bluetooth wireless technology lets you stream your favourite audio tracks from up to 8 Bluetooth enabled devices, such as smartphones, portable audio players and tablets. With the built-in Wi-Fi wireless technology, the AVR-X4500H connects to the internet through your home network, opening up a world of music from free internet radio stations, as well as streaming subscription services like Spotify via the very latest Spotify Connect scheme.

Note: Although the Receiver has a built-in AM/FM Tuner, reception and sound quality are subject to specific conditions being met by the customer. Some may require additional cost. Click here to read more.

If you've got your favourite music stored on your portable IOS iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and you're using iTunes, then Apple’s AirPlay streaming audio system makes it as simple as pressing “Play” to stream songs to the Denon AVR-X4500H. DLNA 1.5 certification lets you connect to your PC or Mac via your home network wirelessly for additional streaming capabilities. The Denon Remote App lets you easily control the AVR-X4500H with your portable device, and is available for Apple and Android devices as well as the Kindle Fire.

Dolby Atmos: It's new and will be a winner because with Dolby Atmos, sound comes alive from all directions, including overhead, to fill your home theatre with astonishing clarity, power, detail and depth of sound. The AVR-X4500H has the processing power to run a more enveloping 7, 9 or 11* channel Dolby Atmos system using 5.2.2, 5.2.4, 7.2.2, 7.2.4, 9.2.2 or 11.2.2* configurations utilising ceiling mounted, or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers.. Here's how it can be configured.

  • A 5.1.2 speaker configuration is based upon a traditional 5.2 speaker layout complemented by 2 overhead or Dolby Atmos-enabled height speakers.
  • A 5.1.4 speaker configuration is based upon a traditional 5.2 speaker layout complemented by 4 overhead or Dolby Atmos-enabled height speakers.
  • A 7.1.2 configuration is based on a 7.2 speaker layout with 2 overhead or Dolby Atmos-enabled height speakers.

Now With Auro-3D Decoder Built-In

This '4500H is equipped with a built-in Auro-3D decoder. Previously this was a $300 upgrade extra! With Auro-3D, Front Height, Surround Height and Top Surround are added to a conventional 5.1-channel system to achieve a natural and realistic soundfield that is three-dimensional and fully immersive. You will be able to fully enjoy Auro-3D playback if you properly place the speakers for Auro-3D. Auro-3D does not support a Dolby Atmos configuration using Top Front, Top Middle, Top Rear, or any Dolby Atmos Enabled speakers. But it is possible to support both an Auro-3D and Dolby Atmos by adding Front Height and Rear Height speakers to a 5.1 configuration. For an optimum Auro-3D experience Surround Height speakers are strongly recommended.

HDR Compatibility: HDR provides enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, creating greater contrast. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. The receiver supports HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (via future firmware update).

  • HDR 10: HDR 10 is an open standard and currently the most popular HDR format on the market. It supports 10-bit color and 1,000 nits. It uses static metadata at the start of a movie to tell the receiver and your TV that the video content is encoded using HDR.
  • HLG (via Future Firmware Update): HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) is primarily designed for live video feed and over-the-air broadcasts. It uses no pre-encoded metadata and is backwards compatible with SDR. HLG's native compatibility allows much of today's existing SDR infrastructure to be re-used for HDR in the future.
  • Dolby Vision: Unlike HDR 10 which contains static metadata and HLG which uses no metadata, Dolby Vision utilizes dynamic metadata which adjusts brightness, color, and contrast automatically for each scene. Dynamic metadata carries information that maps every image to your TV's display capabilities, so you see more of what the content creator intended. Dolby Vision supports 12-bit color and 10,000 nits.

Maximum Multi-Zone/Multi-Source Playback

Just take a look at the back panel of the AVR-X4500H and you'll discover a virtual wall of inputs and outputs, all supplied so you can customise it to your needs. Those 11 pairs of speaker terminals are there for either the ultimate in surround sound pleasure like "front high", "front wide," or "surround back" speakers to give movie soundtracks even more depth, or for other interesting options.

You can also enjoy music from three different sources in up to three rooms at the same time. Its powerful processing allows you to select from digital or analogue sources for stereo playback across three different zones, including HDMI sources in Zones 1 and 2. The Zone 2 HDMI output is great for watching different content on different TVs at the same time.  Here are some popular options that our customers like.

Option One: Connect a 5.2 surround system in one room that then leaves outputs for stereo sound in a second or third room with no additional amplifier required. There's also a third HDMI output for use in your main zone — ideal for connecting both a TV and a projector.

Option Two: For better sound, consider bi-amping your front speakers which is especially beneficial when playing 2 Channel music sources. Of course you can always add an additional stereo power amplifier and enjoy the best of everything!

Option Three: Enjoy the same stereo music in three zones simultaneously which is really great for a party with friends.

Simple Set-Up and Easy To Use: Denon's home theatre receivers continue to get easier to set up and control. Their full-colour on-screen display uses lots of graphics so it's easy and fun to navigate. When you first start, you'll have the Setup Assistant/Quick Start Guide to help you through connections and settings, so you can get your system up and running quickly. It will also help you run the built-in Audyssey automatic speaker calibration system, which tailors the receiver's settings to your specific room and speakers.

Tip: Once you're set up, be sure to download the free Denon Remote app because it's the simplest and most intuitive way to control your receiver via your home Wi-Fi network. This brand new Denon AVR Remote App lets you control the '4500H using your compatible Apple (iOS 7.0) or Android (OS 4.0+) device. Control the receiver's basic functions; such as power, volume, input, surround modes and other settings. You'll also be able to control separate Zones on the receiver, as well as  navigate the receiver's network and Internet content from the app. In addition, you get you get unique features likes a landscape orientation control screen for tablet devices, the ability to create playlists, and control over a Denon Blu-ray player.
