Product Description

Your Vinyl Is Precious.....
So Keep It Clean Mate!

Time to get out that record collection? Make sure you get all the performance you want with the best in record care products. We don't sell 'snake-oil' products! Rather everything is tried and tested - and used by us! The range is limited, but it all works. We even have products that can restore really dirty records (not scratches) to their original performance.

The hardest part of making this album was chosing the material - the musicians kind of chose themselves (anybody you called to perform on a Georgie Fame session immediately said yes). Because Georgie is equally adept at blues, R&B and bebop, they narrowed the repertoire down to their favourites from the books of Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Mose Allison, Hoagy Carmichael, Van Morrison (Georgie's band-mate at the time) and of course several of his sophisticated originals.

Album Overview

"At last!...British blues and pop legend Georgie Fame finally has his Magnum Opus committed to the stuff we all love. Contained within is a collection of Blues, Jazz and R&B standards mixed with some originals. This musicians' musician is backed by a world class band and yes, there is a slowed down, super sexy "Yeah,Yeah" and a blistering take on Willie Dixon's "I Love The Life I Live". On an audiophile note, this studio album was recorded "live" with most tracks done in one or two takes, no overdubs and entirely in the analogue domain. A great album, beautifully recorded, finally done justice on two slabs of 180g by Pure Pleasure." - Steve Hoffman Music Forums

On Cool Cat Blues, which was originally released in 1991, Ben Sidran assembled some of the coolest jazz cats around to record on an album with the celebrated Georgie Fame. Among these were jazz drumming giant Steve Gadd, percussionist Ralph MacDonald, bassist Will Lee, blues guitarist Robben Ford, legendary jazz vocalist Jon Hendricks, pop icon Boz Scaggs, and Irish soul king Van Morrison. Apart from the great selection of vocal standards, there is a revamp of Fame's "Yeah Yeah" and a dynamic version of Morrison's "Moondance".

Originally recorded and mixed by James Farber at Skyline, New York City in 1990 Along with additional recording by Tristan Powell at Abbey Road, Steve Weiss at Creation Audio, Dave Luke at Fantasy. This version re-mastered at Abbey Road Studios around 2008
