The B&W 707 S2 is a high performance compact speaker that’s ideal for smaller rooms. Yes, you can set it on a bookshelf, but they sound significantly better when stand-mounted and postioned so that the stereo image is well defined.

About B&W 707 S2 Speakers

Bring the breathtaking clarity and definition of studio sound home with the new 700 Series. Replacing the CM Series, the range combines studio-grade 800 Series Diamond technologies with purpose-built innovations to elevate home audio to an entirely new level. And all this from room-friendly cabinets designed to fit beautifully into your home environment.

Small speaker, big sound. Ideal for smaller rooms, and designed for use on a bookshelf or stand, the 707 produces tremendous highs and depths for a compact unit. Its two way design and advanced drive units, including a Continuum cone bass/midrange driver and a Carbon Dome tweeter, make for a sound that’s clear, powerful and remarkably cohesive.

Technology

The 700 Series is an entirely new range of speakers. Compared with the outgoing CM Series, every transducer has changed and radically improved. To do this, B&W have borrowed some of the most advanced technologies from their flagship 800 Series Diamond, adapting them to suit a more attainable price point. And they’ve introduced entirely new technologies, designed specifically for this range.

Carbon Dome Tweeter: Carbon Dome tweeters are a brand new technology purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double-dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.

Continuum Cone Bass/Midrange: First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone represents the biggest step-change in midbass performance since Kevlar. Its woven, coated material provides highly controlled break-up, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange and more dynamic, rhythmic bass.

FlowPort: Great bass depends on a smoothly regulated airflow. Flowport minimises turbulence by using dimples, like a golf ball. They generate tiny eddy currents, over which air flows smoothly and silently. Bass sounds smooth and tight at all volumes.

Craftsman Cabinet Finishes: While sound is always the first priority, all good manufacturer's recognise that a speaker is also a piece of furniture and important to most buyers. So, attention to detail is vital to ensure the 700 Series look as beautiful as they sound. Therefore, 700 Series cabinets use high-quality materials such as real wood veneers, with concealed screw fixings for a stunning, clean design. But these features aren’t just for show: solid cabinet construction and unbroken surfaces help limit distortion.

So while B&W have paid a lot of attention to what goes on inside a 700 Series speaker, as you can see they haven’t forgotten about what’s happening on the outside. Thanks to high-quality finishes and painstaking attention to design detail, the 700 Series will fit harmoniously and elegantly into the home environment. Magnetic grilles mean no mounting features and an acoustically-optimised tweeter grille provides protection.

Bring Hollywood Home: Providing the ideal balance of high-performance acoustics and living room-friendly dimensions, 700 Series speakers are a superlative choice for home cinema sound. Pair them with one of the two centre-channel speakers in the range and the  powerful DB4S subwoofer and you’re set for a truly transformational movie experience.

In The News

In leading recording studios, music that will soon be heard everywhere is heard first through Bowers & Wilkins speakers. “Bowers & Wilkins speakers are the only speakers I have found that enable me to accurately listen to how the original performance has been recorded.” - Peter Cobbin, producer and sound engineer. Recent feature film work includes Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange and Alien: Covenant.

Our Take On The B&W 707 S2 Speakers

With the new 700 Series, beauty is so much more than skin deep. Of course, with their clean lines, high-quality finishes and lack of superfluous detail, these are some of the most elegant speakers that B&W have ever built. These are first-class speaker by anyone's standard but naturally not quite to the heights of the flagship 705 S2. But then they are significantly cheaper and that will be attractive to many buyers, particularly those in smaller to medium sized rooms and who don't need to play Metallica for the neighbours to enjoy! The 707 S2 features the Decoupled Double Dome Tweeter, but built-in to the cabinet rather than being on top. That is where a big wad of cash is saved. Yet, they still retain a stunningly accurate high-end response. As with any speaker, your choice of amplification and source material will determine final performance results.
