About Atacama Equinox RS4 Audio Stand
For over 25 Years Atacama has produced Award Winning speaker stands, hi-fi racks and AV supports designed to enhance both visually and acoustically the equipment matched with them. The award winning Equinox RS hi-fi rack draws on this vast experience.
This upgraded RS (Revised Specification) version of the Awarding winning Equinox hi-fi support has improved inner height capacity for the shelf modules, more and bigger advanced resonance dampening Gel Pads between the frame and the glass, a 10% weight capacity improvement and a fresh contemporary update to its appearance. As a result, Atacama's Equinox equipment multimedia rack range is fast becoming the Tiger Woods of the AV and Hi-Fi furniture world: year-on-year, rivals have a go at beating it, but year-on-year the Atacama's excellence wins out. It's the very best value way of providing a stable, secure sound and vision - boosting support for your audio equipment and sound system.
High-performing practicality added to stunning modern good looks, the Atacama Equinox series is one of your best choices for audio equipment rack design. It provides you the flexibility you need as you purchase more additional components, you can add more shelves by simply stacking individual shelf modules on top of the two-shelf base. Each of the said shelf module is isolated on heavy duty floor spikes. It has also toughened glass to BS 6206A and EN 12600:2002, which are de-coupled from the home theatre system rack framework. This is in order to ensure optimum performance from your audio / AV system and to prevent vibration affecting sensitive equipment. These shelves are decoupled from the rack framework via mini isolation gel pads to reduce vibration affecting sensitive equipment.
Even though the original design of the first model of Equinox was released back in 2001, as of today it is still considered to be one of the best value audio racks and upgrades. The rack can be utilised as a 2 shelf module or with the addition of up to 3 single shelf modules, offering ample space for you and your components.
Note: RS modules are fully compatible with previous versions of Equinox hi-fi racks.
Combining high performance with practicality and good looks, the multi-award winning Equinox hi-fi. RS equipment support offers a flexible approach to hi-fi rack design.
This Equinox Hi-Fi RS four shelf rack consists of a standard two shelf base module (column height 225mm) and two single shelf modules which can be ordered in either 145mm or 195mm column heights. Please specify the height required for the top two shelves when ordering.
How It Works
To gain maximum performance from your hi-fi or av system, the furniture you place it on is as equally important as all the other components. Each component & cable is susceptible to electrical & mechanical noise, degrading overall system performance. In theory total isolation is desirable, but in reality impossible.
Atacama designs achieve optimum isolation through a combination of high mass components, gel isolation pads and spherical pointed contact points. Aluminium columns eliminate residual magnetism and the adjustable spiked feet allow efficient floor de-coupling.
Atacama MD Mr. Carl Sambell when embarking on production of quality speaker stands back in the early 1990's demonstrated that he and his company had a thorough understanding of what is needed when he stated: "The problem when designing a speaker stand is that it firstly needs to be functional, i.e. it needs to be sonically dead and be able to absorb the vibration from the speaker that it supports. Functionality is reasonably easy to achieve, but trying to combine functionality with visual appeal is not so, particularly when you consider that this type of product is likely to be sitting in someone's lounge. The design brief was clear, design a high performance speaker stand whilst creating a product that was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and at the same time retain a competitive price point."
Our Take On Atacama
Good, strong Hi-Fi furniture is often overlooked. Don't quickly dismiss these crafted products which even at one time in the long distant past we thought were just another stand! Why? One of the most compelling demonstrations that we've experienced here at Audio Trends was a certain British manufacturer demonstrating the importance of a solid, vibration free base for any hi-fi component. We listened to a track with the CD player on a chest of drawers. We then listened to the same track with the CD player on a good rack. Everyone in the room was immediately convinced. Here's a test while CD players are still with us. Hold your CD player in your hands with disc playing and then put it down on your cabinet and listen again to the same passage. If you can't hear any difference then fine, your stand/cabinet is not interfering with the sound. But if you can like most of us hear a difference, then you'll better appreciate the need for a good stand and spread the word accordingly!
