Active speakers are just speakers with an amplifier inside so they are very simple to set up and use. Most of them have an amp for both channels in just one speaker. This means you plug that speaker into the power and run the supplied signal connection cable to the other speaker. The speaker with the amplifier will also have the connections on the back and these might include things like HDMI and Optical for hooking up a TV and Line and Phono for hooking up components like CD players and Turntables. Many models also sport Bluetooth so you can play music from your phone or tablet. A remote control is also usually included to control volume and switch inputs as many active speakers do not have front panel controls.
