DVDO Edge High Definition Video Processor

DVDO Edge - High Definition Video Processor

Description

DVD Edge: The DVDO Edge video processor can upscale up to 10 video sources to 1080p, and improve image quality using Anchor Bay's VRS technology.

The introduction of the DVD Edge video hub and processor, which aims to be the first and last question for bringing together a videophile's plethora of video sources, up-scaling them to 1080p, and making them look their best on an HDTV display. The DVDO Edge will handle up to 10 video sources—six via HDMI 1.3 inputs and four analog inputs—and take all the video up to 1080p. What's more, the DVDO Edge offers precision de-interlacing, noise-reduction, detail and edge management, and claims to dramatically improve image quality using progressive reprocessing.

"Millions of customers have now upgraded to HDTVs, but as they add more sources like Blu-ray players, portable media, cable boxes, and satellite receivers, they find themselves running out of ways to connect them to their TV," said DVDO chief executive Doug Fealtman, in a statement. "And then, once they've lived with HD picture quality, they want to find a way to raise the level of picture quality from lower resolution sources to match the capabilities of their HD display. The EDGE was designed to seamlessly answer these challenges by connecting and enhancing all video sources and switch between them with the push of a single button."

The DVDO Edge connects to an HDTV using a single HDMI cable, and offers an optical audio output for older receivers. The device offers flexible aspect ratio control so users can easily switch between 4:3 full frame, 4:3 letterbox, 16:9 full frame, and a non-linear stretch from 4:3 to 16:9—basically, enough settings to let sports fans splatter a game across every square millimeter of their display and still see the box scores in the lower right-hand corner. The DVDO Edge can be programmed for auto input selection so it detects and switches to active signals (with an input priority option for preferred sources), and an AV LipSync feature aims to eliminate video lag problems, and a "game mode" is specifically designed to eliminate any lag from video processing delay.
