When we opened in Wantirna in 1978, we not only needed a showroom for our own range of loudspeakers, but also for our range of timber (Queensland Walnut was the rage until the mid 80’s) cabinets. But by then the CD player had been added to the Graphic Equaliser and the collection of CDs began to explode as almost everyone who had the LP then went and bought or were given as a gift the CD version of the album! This was a problem – especially for our lady customers!

From then on we started to make a range of custom furniture that was adapted to the specific needs of each customer. The only difference today is that we make a lot more in even more variety of timbers and of course styles, from period designs to ultra modern and almost anything in between. There are two main reasons to consider us for your furniture. Firstly, our craftsmen are absolutely the best and secondly, because we have been doing it so long, we understand how to design furniture so that absolutely everything – CD’s; DVDs; Components; every shape/size of TV and even powered projection screens – fit and operate perfectly with no messy wires all dangling out the back! Even those few wires that do go to the wall can be usually camouflaged in neat flexible conduit.

Sad to say, the furniture industry has never seen the potential to design and manufacture high-quality cabinets specifically to suit large audio visual systems. The good news is that we can make almost anything, big or small and in a huge variety of genuine timber or artificial materials.

A visit to the CEDIA Expo a few years ago enlightened us to the vast number of US manufacturers catering for what is one of the nicest essentials to add the final touch-of-class to either a dedicated home cinema or even a dual purpose room. Except for one, and he only had one very basic design, our local manufacturers weren’t really interested unless we ordered by the hundred! Discussions with US makers were ceased when shipping costs blew the prices completely out of the water.

Not everyone is looking for a large wall unit or necessarily something made out of timber. Audio Trends also manufacture a range of relatively simple and very affordable range of timber stands, but also have available an incredible range of ultra-modern metal and glass pieces.
