QED's multi-award winning X-Tube XT400 AirCore Technology Speaker Cable should be on the short list for any serious music lover. The way this cable lets music breathe needs to be heard to be believed. Fastidiously constructed and an ideal match for the rock solid QED AirLoc Banana Plugs, there really are no negatives to this cable.
The flagship Aircore™ cable. Silver Plated Oxygen Free Copper tubular conductor geometry. For use in the finest hi-fi and home theatre systems.
X-TUBE™ with Aircore™ technology is a genuine breakthrough in loudspeaker cable design. This cable range delivers many of the attributes of QED's world-renowned Genesis Silver Spiral cables - superb transparency, dynamics and control - in a more compact cable format.
X-TUBE™ is designed to be the natural upgrade for anyone using QED’s Silver Anniversary speaker cables or those simply wanting the best performance for their hi-fi or home theatre system.
The construction of these cables is uniquely QED: multiple Silver Plated conductors surrounding a polyethylene core, precise spiral geometry within the transparent outer jacket and excellent shielding. A truly balanced design that has been universally praised by the world’s specialist press as a true high-end performer.
In The News
"the XT400 delivers - in spades. Detail resolution is wonderful and this cable reveals the finer points of complex tunes at even low volumes." What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision
At low frequencies both X-TubeTM and conventional stranded/solid core speaker cables convey signals in a linear way. However, at high frequencies, X-TubeTM retains a near-linear signal transfer, whereas the conventional cables fail to conduct uniformly across the entire conductor area.
In standard speaker cables at high frequencies current flow is highest at the periphery with rapidly deteriorating current density towards the centre of the conductor. The effect of this is to reduce the actual cross sectional area of the cable at 15kHz to less than 75% of that at low frequencies. This results in higher distortion and compromises the performance of the cable.
X-TubeTM with polycore technology exhibits much lower self-inductance and is therefore less affected by this problem. The polycore technology reduces loop inductance to levels only achievable using more costly and difficult to terminate cables.
So, with more high frequency detail, less distortion & greater performance, X-Tube delivers greater fidelity across the audio spectrum which would otherwise be lost in ordinary cables.
The History Of QED
In 1973 Bob Abraham and Ian Vine founded QED Audio Products and changed the way people think about hi-fi cables. By the time QED 79 strand was launched in 1978, it wasn’t considered' just another speaker cable' but a serious hi-fi component.
During 1994 QED conducted the most extensive ever scientific investigation into the effects of speaker cable on hi-fi system performance. Read the results in “The Genesis Report”. Hear the results whenever you listen to your favourite music using QED cables.
QED's reputation for innovation and technical excellence is known throughout the world. The latest computer-aided design techniques allow their research and development team to keep pace with technological advances and deliver products that achieve the highest levels of performance and reliability. This is why QED speaker cables are recommended by so many of the world’s leading manufacturers of hi-fi and home theatre equipment.
QED is Europe's number one award winning connectivity brand and has won more prestigious cable awards from ‘What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision’ magazine than any other brand (Awards 1981–2013).
